Recap: Alexandros Vasmoulakis – “My eyes are seeing you” @ Amalias 36

Recently in Athens, Alexandros Vasmoulakis held a brief popup showing at Amalias 36 entitled My eyes are seeing you. The sexually charged and promiscuous narrative from the Greek artist has an interesting setup with a sculptural installation that features male heads obsessively staring at the figures in the paintings and depending on your perspective, the attendees of the show themselves. Showing: “Appropriate Disruption” @ Jacob Lewis Gallery

On November 21, Appropriate Disruption opened at Jacob Lewis Gallery in New York. The show revolves around a theme of appropriation and features the intricate works of Rina Banerjee, Reza Farkhondeh, the always incredible How and Nosm, Austin Lee, Erik Parker, Emilio Perez and the infamous, Kenny Scharf (seen above). The works will be on view until Saturday, December 20 so if you hurry, you can still catch it.

Recap: Graphic Surgery – “Contra” @ Mini Galerie

Recently, Mini Galerie in Amsterdam put together a showing from Graphic Surgery with works staying true to their aesthetic of diagonal lines, geometric shapes and a mostly B&W color scheme. The locally-based duo (Erris Huigens and Gysbert Zijlstra) have certainly made their name on the streets with their recognizable murals but display their versatility with this exhibition entitled Contra. Katrin Fridriks recently rounded up a successful year with an solo exhibition at Circle Culture in Berlin. Opened on the 21st of November, Stendhal Syndrome is the most challenging show that Icelandic abstract conceptual artist has put together to date. Releases: Conor Harrington – “Samson’s Nostalgia Trap” Print

Following up on the amazing new imagery revealed in a recent popup show in New York (covered), Conor Harrington (interviewed) will be releasing the Samson’s Nostalgia Trap print soon. Sized at 74 cm x 100 cm with a total edition of 200, it will come signed & numbered and cost £250 (inc VAT). Over the weekend, the Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Los Angeles showcased work from artists that they will work with in the future with a group show entitled Praeteritum Nunc Futurum. Listed officially were artists like Greg Simkins (seen above), Todd Carpenter, devNgosha, Andrew Hem, KMNDZ, Travis Louie, Nathan Ota, Lezley Saar, Jeff Soto, Nicola Verlato, Edward Walton Wilcox, Mark Whalen, William Wray but pieces from others could be seen as well.
