Currently showing at Narwhal Contemporary in Toronto is a three person show entitled View Point Geon featuring the work of Matthew Feyld, Alvaro Ilizarbe, Paul Wackers. For this exhibition, the Canada-based Feyld continues to explore the continued abstraction of his figurative work while Ilizarbe brings Haring-esque patterned wall sculptures from Peru. Upcoming: Mark Dean Veca @ Western Project

On October 18, Western Project in Los Angeles will be welcoming back (see 2010) local artist Mark Dean Veca (interviewed) for a showing of his new works. Rendered with his distinctive “Toile de Jouy” like patterns, iconic characters from pop culture take on a fresh new form and meaning as he oftentimes twists familiar imagery for social commentary. Previews: “Cruel Summer” @ Jonathan Levine Gallery

Tonight, in the middle of a hot NYC summer, Jonathan LeVine Gallery will be opening a group exhibition entitled Cruel Summer. Curated by collector, graffiti historian and urban anthropologist Roger Gastman, the exhibition is inspired by the summer of 1984 and the song Cruel Summer by Bananarama. Time for another segment of our Rewind feature. This edition’s highlighted video (via Colossal) comes from Icheon Ceramics Village in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, home to over 300 ceramics studios.
