POW WOW ’14 & 1xRUN Prints & Show

The annual POW! WOW! art retreat in Hawaii starts this weekend and 1xRUN will be on site to work on a special show at Loft in Space / Fresh Cafe set to open on February 14th. They have also partnered with Pangea Seed, a local non profit, to exhibit prints from their archives and their new Sametan figure customized by over 30 artists. In addition, 1xRUN will be releasing a series of prints from participating 2014 POW! Previews: Tristram Lansdowne, Erin Murray, and Greg Eason @ Breeze Block Gallery

Tonight (February 6th), the Breeze Block Gallery in Portland will be presenting new work from Canadian artist Tristram Lansdowne (interviewed), along with Erin Murray in a two-person show. Entitled Order Of Operations, the exhibition will highlight Lansdowne’s architectural forms that appear to be in harmony with the natural landscapes they are found in as well as Murray’s buildings and structures rendered on shaped panels. Openings: Allison Schulnik – “Eager” @ ZieherSmith

Last month, AM stopped by ZieherSmith in New York to take in the grotesque yet beautiful work of Allison Schulnik. Entitled Eager, the name of her newest stop-motion claymation film (which premiered on opening night), the exhibition featured paintings and sculptural works related to the film. Tessar Lo’s (featured) newest series oh, ou, ohh, o opened last Friday at Toronto’s Cooper Cole Gallery. If you remember, we visited with Lo in his studio a couple months ago as he was preparing these new works so it was nice to see them completed and hanging together on the walls. Galleria Patricia Armocida in Milan recently opened A Position On a Map, a new solo show by Jim Houser (previewed). This is American artist’s second solo show with the gallery, and after three and half years, he is back with 20 new works that he shared with local art lovers. We recently stopped by the Klein Sun Gallery in New York to admire new works from Li Hongbo in a show entitled Tools Of Study. The Chinese artist and former book editor has taken his obsession with paper to new levels with flexible sculptures that bend our perceptions of reality.
