Upcoming: “Takashi in Superflat Wonderland” @ Plateau, Samsung Museum of Art

Today in South Korea, Takashi Murakami opened a new exhibition at Plateau, Samsung Museum of Art featuring over 40 of his artworks. Takashi in Superflat Wonderland will include recent works, but is also a retrospective, and puts the core “Superflat” philosophy behind his art on display. Album Covers: Tim Barber x Elton John – “The Diving Board”

Continuing a long line of artists seen here on AM who have collaborated on album covers, a Tim Barber image graces the cover of Elton John’s soon-to-be released The Diving Board. A Look Inside Geoff McFetridge Studio

Geoff McFetridge, who recently showed during at Volta during Art Basel week and also completed a mural at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, looks like he has a nice space to work in. Printed Pages, the print publication of It’s Nice That, recently paid the Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary artist in his studio. Streets: Liu Bolin (New York)

It looks like Chinese artist Liu Bolin was back in New York again recently since the last time he was in the Big Apple when we hung out with him and JR as they worked on an interesting collaborative project together. While in town for his current exhibition at Eli Klein Fine Art, site of his show in 2012 (covered), the photographer and painter decided to stop by 5Pointz Aerosol Arts Center, in an area of Queens which has heavy graffiti presence. Openings: “California-Pacific Triennial” @ OCMA

Over the weekend, AM stopped by the Orange County Musuem of Art to take a look at the 2013 California-Pacific Triennial that just opened, in particular Mark Dean Veca’s (interviewed) installation. Along with some paintings he submitted, the Los Angeles-based artist also painted a room with his signature patterns and added some interesting adornments. Art Focus: Sonia Rentsch

Sonia Rentsch is an artist and designer based in Melbourne who worked recently on a project that caught our eye. Harm Less is a series of photos she arranged for the January Biannual that featured plant life arranged to resemble various weapons. The dried plant life stills were meant to “ponder the themes of Life, Death, Ritual and Evolution.” Check out more images below… Via Highsnobiety.
