Openings: Andrew Kuo – “You Say Tomato” @ Marlborough Gallery

New York artist Andrew Kuo recently made his debut solo exhibition with Chelsea’s Marlborough Gallery. Entitled You Say Tomato, the new body of work features a combination of beautifully rendered geometric abstractions with the empirical precision of an x-y graph. Releases: Josh Keyes x Tiny Showcase – “Dawn II”

Continuing his collaboration with Tiny Showcase, Josh Keyes (interviewed) has chosen another image for his current print release – Dawn II. On sale through Tuesday, May 7th, the open timed release edition is available as a framed or unframed version. Opening alongside SABER (covered) a couple weeks ago was the New York-based artist Rostarr (featured). Premiering an entirely fresh body of work for his solo debut with the gallery, the Brooklyn native wowed the packed opening night crowd at the NY Opera Gallery. Utilizing his unique graphically charged visuals, Ro gave us a look at his new direction which held both metallic and oxidized textures, which paired nicely with his tribal-esqe repetitious optical vocabulary. Earlier this month, Bischoff Projects in Frankfurt hosted a new showing from Ryan McGinley entitled Running Water, What Are You Running From? In addition to large-scale editions of the New York-based artist’s photos, there were also some smaller prints that were arranged in a cluster against one wall. Coming up next month (May 17th), the Martha Otero Gallery will be presenting London-based Pedro Matos’ first solo show in Los Angeles entitled Building Castles Made of Sand. The exhibition from Matos, who is originally from Lisbon, will consist of a new series of oil paintings on canvas and azulejo panels – a traditional Portuguese medium of hand-painted, tin-glazed, ceramic tile work.
