Preview: Dalek & Greg Lamarche – “Geometric Balance” @ Show & Tell Gallery

Tonight in Toronto, a pair of geometrically inclined artists will be teaming up at the Show & Tell Gallery. Aptly named Geometric Balance, the joint showing will feature Dalek’s (interviewed) space monkey abstractions and Greg Lamarche (interviewed) typographic shapes. The Warhol: D.I.Y. Pop app

As art-related phone apps become more and more popular (see Faile Puzzle Boxes), it’s only natural that we will continue to introduce you to more and more of them. The next one on our list was recently released by the Andy Warhol Museum to allow users to learn about Warhol’s silkscreen process and to create a digital silkscreen print. The Warhol D.I.Y. At the beginning of this year, we brought you photos of the pop-up location of TOYKIO Gallery & café while they worked feverishly to get their main space set up for their official launch. Every Thing Must Go (previewed), the new Charming Baker pop-up show in London’s Covent Garden opened on Thursday 7 July. It was a well-organised, confidently-run operation on the night. Openings: Dan Witz – “Mosh Pits, Human and Otherwise” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

Opening alongside Brett Amory’s solo at Jonathan LeVine Gallery was also Dan Witz’s Mosh Pits, Human and Otherwise. This show featured the Brooklyn-based artist and his hyper-realistic painting style where he applies old master techniques to create incredibly vibrant and detailed works. We saw his signature large-scale oil paintings which feature Witz’s crazy and energy packed mosh pits as well as some works from his illuminated series. Openings: Aaron Young – “Built Tough” @ Bortolami Gallery

AM recently caught Aaron Young’s New York Solo Built Tough at Bortolami Gallery. The show was a departure from the motorcycle etchings we typically see by Young as he tackled the motif of America and its symbols with new body of works that included sculptures, paintings, and silkscreens.
