Releases: Jeff Soto – Eddie Vedder Screenprint (Providence 2011)

Next Friday, June 22nd, Jeff Soto (interviewed) will be releasing a new five color screenprint on his webstore. Limited to a signed edition of 100 and costing $65, the print celebrates the first night of Pearl Jam lead vocalist Eddie Vedder’s US Tour. This is not the first time Jeff has worked with the American rock band if you remember. Some in-progress shots after the jump…

These paintings are destined for his a London show with Lazarides this coming November along with some new prints and sculptural pieces. Last week in Copenhagen, LA-based Geoff McFetridge opened his show US AS A LOGO at the V1 Gallery. The multidisciplinary artist, who seems to have no creative boundaries, has worked with poetry, animation, graphic design, creating title sequences for movies like Virgin Suicides, Adaptation and Where The Wild Things Are as well as the skateboard ramps seen in the Art in the Streets exhibition. As the doors opened yesterday on the largest and most important art fair in the world, Art Basel (Switzerland), the mood was buoyant as it looks like buyers have returned to the fray despite the still sluggish world economies. Openings: Ryan McGinness – “SponsorshipREDUX” @ Subliminal Projects

Last Saturday, Ryan McGinness hit up the final leg of his exhibition schedule in LA with a show at Subliminal Projects. SponsorshipREDUX is a remix of his 2003 show, where corporate logos were sized on the gallery walls according to their level of sponsorship for the exhibition. This time around, the logos (including ours), were deconstructed and the parts used as compositional ingredients in a series of four paintings and two print editions. Influential Mission School artist Margaret Kilgallen will be featured at the Ratio3 Gallery in San Francisco at the end of the month. Entitled Margaret Kilgallen: Summer / Selections, The show will feature works on paper and paintings on canvas, some never before seen from the late Bay Area painter. The selected pieces will be prime examples of her use of delicate and folkloric imagery and will be her first solo exhibition in SF in over 13 years. Don’t miss the June 23rd opening. Last time Ron English was prepping for a show in the UK, he invited us over for a visit in his New Jersey based studio. Fast forward a few years, he’s moved into a large house in suburb of Beacon, New York. On Saturday night, the Guerrero Gallery in SF opened up their doors to a show celebrating the signmaking aesthetic. Included in the show were artists influenced by the their love for typography and signage – Steve “ESPO” Powers and Jeff Canham, as well as the crew of New Bohemia Signs. Teaser: “Pretty on the Inside” @ Paul Kasmin

Later this month, the Paul Kasmin Gallery will host the opening of Pretty on the Inside, a show curated by KAWS and Erik Parker. To our knowledge, this is the first time KAWS has flexed his curatorial chops since I Can’t Feel My Face exhibition in Los Angeles in 2009 (covered).
