Preview: José Parlá – “Walls, Diaries, and Paintings” @ Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery

Dynamic contemporary artist, José Parlá, will be setting his hometown New York City stomping grounds ablaze next month with a new solo exhibition, entitled Walls, Diaries, and Paintings (teased). “Art Machine” @ The Hole Gallery & ALIFE

This Thursday, The Hole Gallery will host a brand new type of exhibition. Collaborating with NY’s fashion collective ALIFE, they’ll be showcasing art & items from various artists in a unique manner. Through the use of  vending Art Machines, attendees can purchase what they see via a credit card. Items will include mini paintings, sculptures, bearbricks, and G-Shock watches/apparel. For as little as $5 dollars for something cool, you should plan on getting there early as sales are first come first serve.

Releases: Steve Powers (ESPO) – “You and Me” Print

Street art icon and Fullbright Scholar, Steve “ESPO” Powers, who made waves last year with his A Love Letter For You urban revitalization and documentary film project (see trailer here), has released a new print with with Exhibition A today. Produced in an edition of 100, “You and Me” provides the perfect representation of ESPO’s work, with clever word play, tight typographic elements and simple imagery. Update: Josh Keyes – “The Magician’s Garden” @ Fecal Face Dot Gallery

Last week saw the opening of Tibetan master painter Pema Rinzin’s first New York solo show Compassion Transformed at the Joshua Liner Gallery, and the sizable crowd in attendance couldn’t have been more impressed with what they saw. Openings: Richard Duardo – “Ink On Paper” @ Mallick Williams & CO

Last Friday, Mallick Williams & CO opened their latest exhibition “Ink On Paper”. The collection of prints was from renowned Los Angeles-based master printer Richard Duardo. Pieces on display were classic examples from artists who have chosen in the past to collaborate with the Modern Multiples founder. Attendees enjoyed silkscreen gems from Dennis Hopper, Shepard Fairey, Retna, SABER and others. The show will run until Feb. 25th, so make it out if you can. Check out more after the jump.
