We like catchy titles, and you don’t get much more catchy than the mouthful we named this contest. When we set the contest to win a set of exclusive and uber-limited skate decks D*Face designed for Real Skateboards, we were hoping that AM’s readers would rise to the challenge and pull out all the creative stops. Well, we received more than 50 entries for the contest, and each delighted us with the range of artistic talent shown by the entrants. To recap, the rules were […]
Lisbon based street artist, Pedro Matos, recently released a limited edition print (details here) of his painting “Therefore the King”. Pedro has graciously decided to giveaway one the AP’s for this print to one of our readers. Just leave a comment at the end of this post or on our facebook on what your interpretation of the crown in the painting is and […]
It seems that cans of paint are a valuable commodity in Ecuador and whilst we discard our empty cans and messed up caps without question where it is readily available, the local kids in Quito clean up the old tips and re-fill and re-pressurise the cans for a second life. We last saw D*Face (interviewed) hitting Quito with posters and paste-ups around the city whilst trying to source some precious paint during his trip to Ecuador for the ‘9no Festival de Arte en la Calle’ […]
Heads up for a great giveaway that D*Face has given to readers of Arrested Motion. You saw the flicks we got of D putting together this stenciled skate ramp recently, and then we got first sight of the new uber-limited skate decks at the recent StolenSpace Summer Group Show… This set of three screen-printed skate decks has been produced by Real Skateboards in conjunction with D*Face in a limited edition of just 10 sets. A less limited full color set has also been produced, which […]
Dan Baldwin’s solo, “A New Life”, recently opened at Signal Gallery, and AM stopped by to take a look at the new work on show. Dan’s new collection of paintings brings a more subtle and controlled approach to his work, triggered, in his words, by a change of surroundings from the city to the countryside and also his impending fatherhood (Baldwin Jr. attended the opening in utero!). There still are the typical chaotic Baldwin moments within the compositions, but he seems to have tamed the […]
A show definitely worth checking out that is currently showing at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles is Dan May’s (interviewed) new body of work – “Into the Wild”. We last saw his incredibly detailed paintings of gentle creatures and humanoids at the Rotofugi Gallery several months ago. Dan has kindly sent over an AP print of his “Echoes of Existence” painting to give away to one of our lucky readers. Just leave a comment guessing how many hours it took to complete the actual painting […]
