Streets / Recap: The Crystal Ship (Belgium)

From the 26th of March until the 10th of April, the Belgian coastal city of Ostend hosted The Crystal Ship festival on its streets. Better known for their beer festival, the town instead gifted their public space to world-renowned artists to create works through the city. For the art lover out there who is also into Game of Thrones, we have good news for you. Leading up to the new season starting on April 24th, HBO has teamed up with five different artists to create something inspired by the show’s iconic characters or unforgettable scenes. Preview: “Cat Art Show 2” @ Think Tank Gallery

From March 24-27, shortly after closing their cake-themed installation and special programing (covered), Think Tank Gallery in Los Angeles will be hosting the sequel group exhibition to 2014’s Cat Art Show. Over 70 artists including Mark Ryden, Marion Peck, C215, Adam Wallacavage, Tim Biskup, Kozyndan, Luke Chueh, Brandi Milne, Natalia Fabia, Travis Lampe, Cyrcle., Jean Pierre Arboleda (seen above) and Edwin Ushiro will be contributing pieces inspired by their feline friends. Previews: “DUO” @ Thinkspace Gallery

Tomorrow night (February 27th) at Thinkspace Gallery, a show will be opening featuring the work of artistic duos known for their work on the streets. POW! WOW! Hawaii ’16 / Previews: “Exploring The New Contemporary Movement” @ Honolulu Museum of Art School

Tomorrow (February 7th) will mark the third time Thinkspace has curated a show in association with POW! WOW! Hawaii at the Honolulu Museum of Art School (see 2015 & 2014). The event will continue their push to further the art of what they call the “New Contemporary Movement” and will include an installation from Aaron Li-Hill. Basel Week Miami ’15 / Streets: Space 52 Project

After a first look last week at the Space 52 Project curated by Tristan Eaton during Basel Week Miami with a new mural from Esao Andrews featuring Bob Dylan, we now have shots of what the rest of the artists did. Each participant painted a musical icon as part of a 240 foot mural in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District including the lead Eaton (Afrika Bambaataa), Askew (Billie Holiday), Stephen Bliss (Debbie Harry), Cyrcle. Showing: “Invisible College” @ Fort Wayne Museum of Art

With this being the last week of the Invisible College group exhibition at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, now would be a good time for a recap. Co-curated by Andrew and Shawn Hosner of Los Angeles’ Thinkspace Gallery and Josef Zimmerman from the museum, the title references the fact that many of the artists on the roster didn’t take a traditional art education path to where their careers are now. Headlining our Rewind feature this time is a short film documenting Adam Neate’s (interviewed) time in Beijing where he joined street calligraphers in Beihai Park. After bringing you a look inside the Cyrcle. (featured) studio as they prepped for their Montreal solo, we now have some photos from the opening to share with you.
