Recap: artBGC ONE (Manila)

Last week, we shared with you some of the works Nate Frizzell (interviewed) created for the artBGC ONE Festival in the Philippines. We now have a recap of the other murals that were created by international artists like FAILE, Cyrcle., AkaCORLEONE, Kristin Farr, Drew Merritt and Filipino artists Egg Fiasco and Anjo Bolarda for the inaugural event curated by LeBasse Projects, and held in conjunction with the Bonifacio Arts Foundation (BAFI) in Manila. Our minds are still blown by the size of the piece the Cyrcle. boys painted (seen above).

Coming up in a few weeks, the Cyrcle. (featured) crew will be opening a new show at the Station16 Gallery in Montreal. It looks like Rabz & Davey’s artistic journey has taken a philosophical turn with this new batch of work collectively entitled Nothing Exists. Take a look in these photos as we catch the multidisciplinary artists hard at work in the studio prepping for the exhibition (opening on June 4th). Photo credit: Theonepointeight. Recap / Streets: Heerlen Murals Project 2014

The Dutch city of Heerlen in the southernmost province of Limburg recently rounded up their 2nd edition of Heerlen Murals Project. The idea of this ongoing project is to bring life and fresh energy to the streets and the daily life of the city. Heerlen experienced a strong hit to the economy since the closing of a coal mine back in the 60’s, and through programmes such as this one, it is slowly getting a new, positive and recognizable image. By bringing world class street art onto its facades and streets, […]

Cyrcle. For Beef & Liberty Restaurant (Hong Kong)

The dynamic duo known as Cyrcle. (featured) are not new to the Hong Kong art scene (see here and here). So, it comes to no surprise that their imagery has been chosen for the interiors at Beef & Liberty in Wanchai, which allows us to continue our look at the many restaurants that feature work from artists you have seen here on AM. The 83-seat diner, whose decor comes from the minds of the design studio Spinoff, focuses on gourmet burgers. Take a look at more photos below and head […]

Streets: World Roundup (Jul 7 – Jul 20)

A review of recent public works for our Streets World Roundup sees this new mural (seen above) from Shok-1 as one of the standouts. Entitled  The Consumer, the new piece makes a clever modification in the Pac-Man imagery that we are used to and again highlights the sublime translucent x-ray spraycan technique from the London-based artist. Other notable walls come from Know Hope x 2501 – Austria, Gaia – South Carolina, Cyrcle. – Poland, Borondo – UK, Aaron Li-Hill – New Jersey (source), Faith47 – […]

Streets / Recap: Mural Festival (Montreal)

Between the 12-15th of June, Montreal became a mural mecca of the world for a few days. Hosting a great lineup of street art names, the city got culturally richer with the creation of some beautiful large murals that were painted during Mural Festival 2014. With the main idea of celebrating the creativity of and democratizing urban art, last year’s edition of the event had over 800,000 visits, and was awarded the Montreal Grand Prix du Tourisme. With international names from every corner of the globe, from South […]
