Dran opened a new pop-up exhibition in London over the weekend entitled Dessin du Jour. As the title suggests, the body of work is dominated by approximately 120 drawings which the artist has been executing on a daily basis in preparation for the show. The pieces individually distill down the small victories and defeats, dreams and doubts and joys and sorrows of everyday life. We see a man marooned on an island encircled and cut-off by gridlocked traffic which speaks to the isolation of modern urban life, […]

Berlin based artist BLO, from the Da Mental Vaporz crew, is currently showing a new exhibition entitled Anywhere, Out Of This Mind at Galerie 42b in Paris. We asked him a few questions to find out more. AM: How long have you been preparing for this show? BLO: After a year experimenting with abstraction, and following my artistic residency in Perpignan (FR) in November/December 2017, I decided to return my focus to figurative painting while exploring fragmented compositions. So, I have been preparing for my current show […]
With the New York edition of the Moniker Art Fair opening it’s doors during Frieze Week, here is a suggestion to stop by the Jonathan LeVine Projects booth to check out the work of Brusk from Da Mental Vaporz. Street artist Brusk from the Da Mental Vaporz crew has returned to Paris for a exhibition entitled In Memoriam at Galerie Laurent Strouk that runs until July 15th, his second solo show (see Ad Vitam Eternam coverage here) in Paris. As you will see, the front sign ‘Matignon’ has been cheekily stroked through with black spray paint while highlighting the letters ART in the Gallery name. Combining a Fine Arts background with more than twenty years of graffiti, Brusk’s gestural painting is instantly recognizable. The French artist creates questions, variations, wanderings through a poetic fantasy, […]
French artists BLO and JAW from Da Mental Vaporz crew are currently have work on display in a duo exhibition entitled AMALGAM at The Art Union in Berlin. Moving from figurative depiction, both artists are diving into a sphere of abstraction and dynamics, opening up their pictorial dialogue by exploring the abstract landscapes which emerge through the amalgamation of their creational spirits. This outcome results in movement and balance between hard edges and soft floating areas leaving the spectator’s mind split between serenity and anxiety. Besides the display of BLO & JAW’s new canvases […]

Last month, we shared with you something Titi Freak painted during the fifth annual ArtRua fair in Rio de Janeiro. Turns out, a member of the Da Mental Vaporz crew was also in town painting a much larger 25m high mural entitled You’ll Sweat Blood And Water. Created over four days by Brusk, the impressive wall featured a disintegrating fire extinguisher made up of graffiti letterforms. Take a look at more photos below… Discuss Da Mental Vaporz here.
Member of the Da Mental Vaporz crew, Brusk, is one of the more versatile street artist in France through the mastering of techniques in graffiti, but also lightgraff, sculpture, installation and 3D animation. For his first Parisian show AD VITAM ETERNAM? at Galerie Itinerrance, he concentrated more than twenty years of exceptional practice on a series of paintings and sculptures. All his imagery is there: ripped icons, symbols of polluted consumerism, children drawings made out of acid colors, ironic references to the masters. Also, he chose to revisit Magritte’s Red […]
