A show definitely worth checking out that is currently showing at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles is Dan May’s (interviewed) new body of work – “Into the Wild”. The “WE HEART WOOD” customs show opens tonight, April 8th, at Munky King in Melrose with dynamic duo Noferin inviting 30 of their artists friends to customize their latest blind box mini wood toys – Jibibuts. Not all artists have what it takes to paint on 3D surfaces, but masters of the art like Jeremiah Ketner, Doktor A, Dan May, Yoskay Yamamoto, and Stella Im Hultberg make it look easy with an awesome collection little works of art. Preview: Dan May – “Beneath the Noise” @ Rotofugi

Opening tonight at Rotofugi is a new body of work from Dan May (interviewed). “Beneath the Noise” features some nice size pieces like “Bittersweet Departure” (seen above) sized at 18 x 18″ as well as some affordable smaller pieces. It also looks like Dan is continuing to incorporate the human form into his imagery with his usual stunning attention to detail and color. See some pics of the install after the jump…

AM had the pleasure of attending the opening of Crazy 4 Cult 3D show at Gallery 1988 (LA) a couple weeks ago. The 3rd installment of the wildly popular group show again brought together some of our favorite artists to reinterpret some of the most addictive cult films of all time. “Overdose” (previewed) opened this past Saturday at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica. Upon entering the gallery, you will notice several great pieces from “Overdose” on display in the gallery’s front room.
