Openings: ‘Marks & Stencils’ pop-up gallery, London

Last Thursday, AM was in London’s Soho district to attend the opening of Marks & Stencils: the Pictures On Walls Christmas season pop-up gallery exhibition, which in previous years has gone by the name of Santa’s Ghetto. There was a great atmosphere at the event. No doubt this was partly assisted by the deceptively strong cocktails being served, which led us to yet again repeat our mistake of equating “sweet drink” with “harmless drink”. But that’s another story. The show harbours a selection of prints […]

Preview: Date Farmers @ Ace Gallery, The Wilshire Tower

What have the Date Farmers been up to since we last saw them in New York in April at the opening of their solo show at Jonathan LeVine? Well, they have moved their headquarters from the Coachella Valley to a Los Angeles studio to concentrate their energies on their next endeavor – a exhibition at Ace Gallery celebrating the Bicentennial of Mexican Independence. With this thematic choice, we are sure most DF fans out there can see that their work which is inspired by their […]

Preview: Viva La Revolucion @ MCASD

AM headed down to San Diego on Friday morning to catch the press preview of Viva La Revolucion at MCASD (check out our street coverage here). Pedro Alonzo, the exhibition’s curator, led a talk around the museum and spoke about the different artists and their work. Shepard Fairey, David Ellis, Stephan […]

Openings: POW Shop Opens Its Doors

Pictures On Walls (POW) opened a new shop-cum-gallery in London last week and AM dropped in to take a look around at what goodies might be on offer. Rather than being just a print shop, we were pleasantly surprised to find some real gems of hand worked prints plus original works for sale by some of our favourites; including a Banksy canvas, a huge Stephen Powers piece on acrylic, original work from Kill Pixie and Blu plus a fantastic collection of work from the prolific […]

Their unconventional canvases serve as the perfect medium for the raw and uncut style of this duo and echos their message of finding beauty in the most unexpected places. See the photos from the […]

Openings: 15 Years of New Image Art

Last night’s opening for “15 Years of New Image Art” (previewed here and here) reaffirmed why New Image Art is one of the primary driving forces in the alternative/low-brow/street art scene. The show was everything we thought it would be and more – great art, an energetic crowd, and non-stop entertainment. AM congratulates Marsea Goldberg and the entire New Image Art team on an amazing fifteen years! See all the artwork and photos from the opening after the jump.
