Openings: David Flores x Phil Stern – “The Beginning of an Era” @ The Phil Stern Gallery

A few days ago, artist David Flores and photographer Phil Stern unveiled their joint exhibition at the Phil Stern Gallery showcasing an incredible collection of timeless images blending Stern’s photography and Flores’ unique design. The pictures included iconic personalities ranging from Marilyn Monroe, John F. Kennedy, Frank Sinatra, and James Dean, just to name a few. Having Flores add his design over every one of those photos gave the collection a unique twist which seemed to blend the past and the present almost seamlessly. Preview: David Flores x Phil Stern @ The Phil Stern Gallery

Tomorrow night, December 8th, the Phil Stern Gallery will debut a new exhibit by award-winning photographer Phil Stern and artist David Flores. If you remember a few months back, Flores painted a mural in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles based on a James Dean photograph shot by the Stern (covered). Interesting enough, it was through the photos of AM photographer Carlos Gonzalez that Stern first saw the mural. The remixed James Dean wall made such an impression on Stern that he decided to open […]

Streets: David Flores x Shepard Fairey (Los Angeles)

David Flores and Shepard Fairey (featured) continue to go big as they have now collaborated on a new piece standing in the midst of Downtown Los Angeles. Covering an entire wall, the mural is a combination of Flores’ unique design on one side and on the other, Fairey’s black and white iconography. Over the past few months, the two artists have continued their prolific pace, much of which we have captured including Flores’ rendition of Phil Stern’s James Dean photograph and his reworking of a […]

Streets: David Flores – “Basquiat” (Los Angeles)

Apart from the Cyrcle. crew painting their latest mural, David Flores also took the opportunity to paint his own mural at the Culver City building complex which houses mural work by Herakut and Andrew Hem. The Branded Arts sponsored project had Flores painting his signature style design on a big scale. Last time we saw Flores working on a wall, he took one of Phil Stern’s iconic images which featured James Dean. This time around Flores went a different route and created a rendering of […]

Streets: David Flores (Los Angeles)

David Flores, a LA-based artist who’s known for a unique style that embellishes another work of art rather than painting over it, once again put his stamp on the city walls of Los Angeles. With the monthly event known as the Downtown Art Walk taking place this past Thursday, Flores debuted a large-wall piece that featured one of the most iconic Hollywood screen personas – James Dean. Using the image (taken by photographer Phil Stern) featured in the film Forever Young, Flores took an image […]

Take a look at more pics from the festivities and the completed pieces after the jump…
