Ed Templeton recently opened his biggest museum show ever in Belgium at S.M.A.K with over 1200 works from all over the world serving as a mid-career survey for the American photographer and contemporary artist. “The Cemetery of Reason” features old and new work including paintings, photographs, silkscreens, and painted objects, many of which are arranged into some pretty awesome clusters. Mörel Books, publisher of the highly acclaimed and gorgeous Moonmilk book by Ryan McGinley, is coming out with a book by fellow photographer, artist, and skateboard legend Ed Templeton. Templeton, a Huntington Beach, CA native and resident, works in multiple mediums while exploring his surroundings, personal relationships, and the outskirts of suburban life. We had a chance to take a first look at this year’s enormous Armory Show, which officially opened in NYC yesterday. Last night’s opening for “15 Years of New Image Art” (previewed here and here) reaffirmed why New Image Art is one of the primary driving forces in the alternative/low-brow/street art scene. The show was everything we thought it would be and more – great art, an energetic crowd, and non-stop entertainment. Tonight marks the opening of New Image Art’s anniversary show “15 Years of New Image Art” (previewed). AM swung by the gallery yesterday to check out the progress of the installation.
