It looks like Wynwood Walls is kicking off things early this year because just after RETNA hit up his wall in Miami, ROA, Gaia, Nunca, HOW & NOSM, the Date Farmers, Faile, and Bast rolled into town to do their thing. Undoubtedly, this year’s event will be just as looked forward to as last year’s edition, with a nice list of artists worked up already. The MTV Staying Alive Foundation will be holding a benefit art auction and exhibition entitled RE:DEFINE to mark the 30th anniversary of the discovery of the AIDS virus. Curators for the event, The Future Tense, have put together a diverse roster of 30 artists (full list here) including Shepard Fairey, Katrin Fridriks, Polly Morgan, D*Face, Haroshi, Brian Adam Douglas (Elbow-Toe), Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Dan Witz, Faile, James Marshall (Dalek) with Ben Eine scheduled for a large-scale public installation. Openings: T&J Art Walk Charity Exhibition

As mentioned in our previous look at the streets of Oslo, the T&J Art Walk took the art work indoors for an impressive charity exhibition that opened this past weekend. With sale proceeds benefiting the Human Rights Watch’s (HRW) work, Streets artists such as Faile, Shepard Fairey, Logan Hicks, D*Face, The London Police, Will Barras, Flying Fortress and more; donated their fine art for a great cause. Last Friday, the C.A.V.E. Gallery and Brooklyn Street Art in collaboration with Thinkspace presented an exhibit titled 39 Stories: Street Art Saved My Life. The exhibit featured 39 different artists including the likes of Anthony Lister, Futura, Judith Supine, Know Hope, Faile, and Swoon to many other names familiar to AM readers. This Friday night (August 12th) at the C.A.V.E. Gallery in Venice (California), Brooklyn Street Art in collaboration with Thinkspace, will be presenting Street Art Saved My Life: 39 New York Stories. This past Thursday night, Post No Bills unveiled an impressive collection of work detailing the artistic trajectory of the Brooklyn-based duo known as Faile (featured). Covering the major part of an entire decade, the exhibit featured a vast collection of limited edition prints (two specific for this show), originals, silkscreen on book covers, and other archived material which in fact had never been available to the public. Faile (featured), the Brooklyn-based artist collective, have revealed new work on the streets just a few blocks away (Gjelina Restaurant) from the Post No Bills Gallery in Venice, California where they are exhibiting a collection of work detailing their artistic careers (show photos to follow). The wall was covered in the salon style that has been seen in some of their recent street work and also featured a sprinkling of co-conspirator Bast’s imagery. More photos after the jump…
