Ai Weiwei Pours Paint Over Designer Clothes For Magazine V

Last year, V Magazine sent over clothes to Ai Weiwei from 14 young designers carried by Dover Street Market, Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo’s concept store. The Chinese artist was given carte blanche to shoot the garments in any way he saw so he took the opportunity to reference his 2006/2008 Colored Vases series by using the same colors splashed on models wearing what he was sent. Releases: Mars-1 & Damon Soule x Smokovich Designs Jewelry

It looks like Mars-1 & Damon Soule recently collaborated with Smokovich Designs to create some limited edition jewelry for the fashion conscious art fans out there. Dubbed the Furtherrr Collection after the art collective the two Bay Area-based artists are part of, the line features pendants, necklaces, and earrings created based off their artwork and drawings. Fashion: James Jean x Big Bad Wolf Tee Release

After introducing a new apparel brand (Big Bad Wolf) last month and the first release in their street-inspired line of children’s clothing with Yoskay Yamamoto, we can now share with you another collaboration. This latest offering features the sublime work of  James Jean (interviewed) and his imagery which includes running wolves as well as other super detailed renderings. Fashion: Yoskay Yamamoto x Big Bad Wolf Tee Release

Some of our friends behind POW! WOW! recently started Big Bad Wolf with the goal of bringing street inspired fashion, art and culture down to the little ones. Their current plan is to release a limited edition artist tee once a month and kickstarting things is a design by Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed). Fashion: Sterling Ruby x Raf Simons x Kate Moss

Kate Moss, who has been a muse for many an artist, was recently decked out in new Sterling Ruby painted parkas and photographed for AnOther Magazine. The paint-splattered limited edition garments, which would apparently cost you about the price of a car, are part of Dior creative director Raf Simons’ Fall/Winter 2014 collection. Gary Baseman x Coach Spring 2015 Line

After opening and closing a comprehensive retrospective (covered) at the MOCA Taipei, Gary Baseman (interviewed) moved on to revealing his latest project. At the recent Fashion Week New York, Coach unveiled their new Spring 2015 RTW collection which featured the Los Angeles-based artist’s imagery. The line included his signature creatures emblazoned on bags, used on prints and repeating patterns, and even knitted into sweaters. Releases: KAWS x Pharrell – G I R L Fragrance

With the opening of his Los Angeles exhibition scheduled in less than three weeks, KAWS will give the public another high profile look at his imagery with the launch of Pharrell’s fragrance “G I R L” this week. Released by Commes des Garçons online at Dover Street Market on August 28th and in-store in London on September 1st, the signature scent features a design by KAWS and will continue the long standing friendship (collector, curator) between the singer-songwriter and New York-based artist. Eight years after comedy giant Dave Chapelle walked off the set of the third season the Chappelle’s Show and into the veil of private life, he made a triumphant return to the spotlight of the Big Apple at the historic Radio City Music Hall recently. Recap: Futura x Crooks & Castles – “LEWDS” Launch @ Known Gallery

Last week, the Known Gallery featured the release party (with support from Hennessy) for a new line from Crooks & Castles designed by Futura. Entitled LEWDS, the collection (which can be seen in more detail here) featured the familiar text and atom motif from the NYC graffiti legend while paying homage to Christopher “Lewds” Natalio, the late Marketing Director of the streetwear brand.
