Streets: D*Face / Branded Arts (Los Angeles)

Before leaving Los Angeles, UK native D*Face (interviewed) decided to create one more mural for his fans to add to the piece (covered) on the side of the building that that housed his popup show (covered). Mirroring one of the originals that was featured in his exhibition, the new image shows one of his characters looking into the rear-view mirror as he’s driving down a lonely stretch of road. After a recent landmark showcase at Harbour City in Hong Kong (covered), Tomokazu Matsuyama (interviewed) headed to Melbourne for his next project. Outside Looking In at Lesley Kehoe Galleries is the second exhibition in their Spring Series focusing on Japanese artists living and creating in New York, making Matzu a perfect choice, especially when considering the East meets West nature of his work. Baby Tattooville ’14: Late Night Live Painting With Rick O’Brien

Burning the midnight oil, surprise guest Rick O’Brien invited us in to see some live model painting at Baby Tattooville last night. Working his two subjects through different poses, the portrait painter loosely laid forms onto his canvas as attendees watched. Taking into account the lateness of the hour, the rumored haunted nature of this particular room at the top of the Mission Inn, and the costumed nature of the models, the session was certainly something to remember from this year’s event. Continuing his long relationship with the Culver City gallery, Kehinde Wiley is currently showing at Roberts & Tilton, his fifth solo there. Entitled The World Stage: Haiti, the new work follows the same successful formula from previous exhibitions while sourcing from a new locale. Streets: Banksy (Clacton-on-Sea)

After unveiling a new piece on the streets in Folkestone after a short absence, it looks like Banksy has moved up the south east coast of England to Clacton-on-Sea. The clever new stenciled image features a flock of birds protesting against another bird of a different color, bringing to light the silliness of similar behavior in the human race. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a slew of new works from the Bristol Bomber. Discuss Banksy here.

On the 27th of September, Jaski Gallery in Amsterdam introduced a new solo from Tessar Lo to their collectors and local art lovers. Over the weekend, AM headed out to Los Angeles to check out a solo from D*Face (interviewed) at a popup location in West Hollywood (315 S. Robertson Blvd). Greeted by an installation featuring a giant D*Dog sculpture crushing a police cruiser with full on smoke, fans were hyped up to enter the gallery space to take in a new body work from the British street artist.
