Just short of two weeks ago, José Parlá announced he was working on a mural titled Diary of Brooklyn, commissioned by Brooklyn’s newest arena-style concert venue and home to the Brooklyn Nets, The Barclay’s Center. This gigantic piece is the largest to date from break-out urban landscape artist José Parlá, measuring a whopping 10 x 70 feet. Takashi Murakami Studio Look

With his recent entry into the Instagram world (@takashipom), Takashi Murakami has offered a rare look into his life for fans of his work. Of particular interest for us has been a glimpse into his huge studio space and his artistic process where the Japanese artist has been hard at work on a series of new paintings. For what show it’s hard to tell, but perhaps some will be headed to Galerie Perrotin for his solo opening in May, timed slightly after the release of […]

Upcoming: Faile – “Les BALLETS de FAILE” @ Lincoln Center

It’s a brand new year and the Patrick’s (aka FAILE) are leading things off with a special project that’s been under wraps for quite a while. Earlier in the year when we visited Faile’s studio while they were working on their trip to Mongolia, we were excited to learn about an upcoming collaborative endeavor with the New York City Ballet, but we were asked to keep this project air tight. The time has come now to share with you information about the large-scale exhibition at the Lincoln Center that will feature the many […]

Daniel Arsham’s exhibition, Reach Ruin, recently opened at the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia where he was the artist-in-residence. Arsham, who is also one-half of design studio Snarkitecture (a partnership with Alex Mustonen) was inspired by his experiences with Hurricane Andrew as a youngster (the show’s title is an anagram for the word hurricane) to create a series of works that speak to the fragility of architecture in the face of the destructive power of nature. In addition to the sculptures, a performance entitled Study for Occupant will be seen […]

Entitled appropriately although now with hindsight misnamed End of the World, the exhibition which opened on December 21st featured Chicano artist’s signature script glorifying the strength and beauty of the East Los Angeles graffiti lettering styles. Along with paintings, the body of work on display also included hand painted skate boards and the night also saw […]

For those currently in Aspen, Colorado – perhaps on a winter vacation – you may want to add a visit to the Baldwin Gallery to your itinerary. Tom Sachs recently opened a show entitled Nautical challenge and other voodoo at the showspace located in the historic Brand Building in downtown, which should be familiar to the NY-based sculptor as he’s had multiple successful exhibitions there in the past. On display will be many intriguing items and installations created through his bricolage technique of creating unique […]
