Parasite’s series of Black Things paintings utilize found & existing paintings and prints as a canvas where traditional works are over-painted with brutal new geometries. The original context of the source paintings are changed and subverted with distorted volumes and masses of ‘anti-image’ to create a new vocabulary. Like they did in 2014 (covered), the AWR/MSK affiliated SABER (interviewed) and ZES recently collaborated on another impressive mural in Los Angeles, this time at the American Tea Room building. The piece in Downtown was made possible with special thanks to Montana Colors USA, The Seventh Letter, as well as Branded Arts and is another example of the locally-based writers’ synergistic artistic energy. Earlier this month, we brought you a look at the collaborative installation from Ludo & Rero in Columbia for the BARCU Arts and Culture Festival. Fans of street art and graffiti will also be pleased to know The House of Urban Art in Bogota curated by Fabien Castanier also featured work from Tilt. Rime Sues Moschino & Jeremy Scott Over Katy Perry’s Met Gala Dress

Like Maya Hayuk earlier this year, Joseph Tierney aka Rime has also filed suit for copyright infringement. The Brooklyn-based graffiti artist alleges that Moschino and its designer Jeremy Scott imitated a graffiti tag that he painted on a Detroit building for Katy Perry’s Met Gala dress. Not only did they allegedly take the VandalsEYES imagery and his signature without his permission but they also added the Moschino and Jeremy Scott brand names in a spray-paint style as if part of the original work. 1xRun recently teamed up with Roger Gastman to create an extensive monograph for one of the most legendary LA writers and graffiti icon RISK (interviewed). The Detroit-based publisher released these 350 page hardcover books on July 17th, coming either with a limited edition print or original artwork. The book itself covers the story of Risk, from the very early 80s to the present day. For the 4th year running (see 2014 here), the Open Summer Festival invited twenty international artists to Toulouse (FR) to the new creative hub Cinquante Cinq / Espace Cobalt. Outside the exhibition space, guests enjoyed live painting sessions with a Graffiti Jam and relaxed with good summer vibes including enjoying a barbecue and music. Earlier this month, RISK head out to Columbus, Ohio for the Rock On The Range festival, a project he collaborated on with Danny Wimmer Presents. With the goal to create the world’s largest interactive mural, he has so far attended two events (out of a planned ten) and has had the participation of over 15,000 people (with a goal of 100,000 people & a 10,000 sq. foot mural).
