Streets: How & Nosm – “I Just Called To Say” @ DKNY Artworks

Amongst ten artists around the world that got commissioned to present their vision for DKNY Artworks, the New York based How & Nosm took on the daunting task of working on the fashion giant’s home court. Entitled I Just Called To Say, the piece the brothers created helped highlight the iconic DKNY logo on a series of billboards on the corner of 48th Street & 7th Ave. It seems like How & Nosm are hitting their stride since creating an impressive mural at the iconic Bowery & […]

Breeze Block Gallery opened their huge group show Wider than a postcard (previewed) alongside the first solo show in their new gallery 2 space – olive47’s bonita bonita (featured) a couple of weeks back to a packed Portland crowd. Over 400 individual works went into the postcard show with 200 artists providing postcard sized works. The work was hung on the walls in grids of 24 cards, each echoing the aspect ratio of the individual works themselves as each work was 6×4 inches. The variance of work encompassed photography […]

Previews: “Wider than a postcard” @ Breeze Block Gallery

On the back of his Space//Form group exhibition last year (covered), Arrested Motion’s Sven Davis is working with Breeze Block Gallery in Portland again on another huge group event entitled Wider than a postcard. With over 200 artists and 400 individual works, this exhibition looks to be both bigger than the previous event and also smaller at the same time as all of the artworks are postcard sized at 6×4 inches. Each artist is either making work on a found / owned postcard and adapting / adding […]

Streets: How & Nosm (San Francisco)

AM caught up with How & Nosm in San Francisco just as they were completing their piece on the corner Hyde & Turk in a gated parking lot in the Tenderloin. Check out more pics below, as well as their Instagram, which documented the progress. Discuss How & Nosm here.

Openings: How & Nosm – “Late Confessions” @ Jonathan LeVine (Pop-up)

Last week, How & Nosm brought their outdoor graffiti talents from the streets into Jonathan LeVine Gallery’s brand new pop-up space in the heart of Chelsea. Entitled Late Confessions, this series of works are reflective of their unique multi-cultural heritage. Being born in Germany and growing up in Spain, the identical twin brothers reveal different parts of their past in the art that was produced for this exhibition. The show featured backlit lenticular paintings (or photos) alongside some original works from selected artists (Aiko, Ron English, Swoon, How & Nosm, Logan Hicks, Kenny Scharf, Futura) who have painted murals at the complex. The title comes from a quote from Tony Goldman (founder of Wynwood Walls), who recently passed, with whom many of the artists included had an especially […]

Streets: How & Nosm on Bowery & Houston

It’s been a rough few weeks for New York City as Hurricane Sandy came up and took the city hostage as it wreaked havoc with flooding, blackouts and gas shortages. On Friday, twin brothers How & Nosm took the tall task of being the next artists invited to work on the iconic Bowery & Houston wall. Following up behind Aiko’s recent effort (covered), the twins braved the elements to join the ranks of notable peers such as RETNA, Kenny Scharf, Barry McGee, Shepard Fairey, Os Gemeos, JR, Keith Haring, and […]
