Upcoming: Hush – “Muse” @ Metro Gallery (Melbourne)

With the opening reception set for May 28th, fans of Hush’s (interviewed) work will be able to enjoy his East meets West aesthetic again in Melbourne at the Metro Gallery. Muse will continue to explore the dichotomy of the UK-based artist’s imagery, mixing his female femme fatales with extracted urban elements. Basel Week Miami ’14 / Recap: Library Street Collective Group Show

Headlining our Rewind feature this week is a look at the incredibly intricate and ornate sculptural assemblages by Kris Kuksi. Openings: Hush – “Fatales” @ The Outsiders

After completing a high profile project working on the interiors of TAO a the Maritime Hotel in New York, Hush (interviewed) returned to the UK to open a solo at The Outsiders in London. Fatales features paintings and sketches from the Newcastle-based artist rendered in a style familiar to fans of the Hush melding Eastern & Western influences. Hush For TAO Downtown (New York)

Over the weekend, TAO held a monster party to launch their new location at the Maritime Hotel in Chelsea, their second New York location. Over the course of four weeks leading up to the grand opening, the UK-based Hush’s (interviewed) was asked to create multiple large-scale installations for the  mega-clubrestaurant, essentially guiding the design of the interiors thematically with is his east meats west urban aesthetic and the geisha girls that have populated his works of late. It’s a little late, but here is the final article summarizing this year’s Nuart Festival (see previous years). Nuart ’13: Part VI – Group Exhibition

Along with the plethora of murals painted for this year’s Nuart Festival (see previous years), the artists involved also put together a group exhibition indoors as well. David Choe, C215, Martin Whatson, Hush, Ernest Zacharevic, Dal East, Faith47, Martha Cooper, Aiko and others all created works in their own recognizable style.
