Streets: Hush (Los Angeles)

Last we heard, Hush (interviewed) was in Melbourne for a solo showing in May of 2012 (covered). Fast forward a year and this time he will be opening an exhibition tomorrow night at the Corey Helford Gallery. While here, he just finished a mural at the Branded Arts Building featuring his East meets West urban aesthetic. Openings: “Wider than a postcard” & olive47 – “bonita bonita” @ Breeze Block Gallery

Breeze Block Gallery opened their huge group show Wider than a postcard (previewed) alongside the first solo show in their new gallery 2 space – olive47’s bonita bonita (featured) a couple of weeks back to a packed Portland crowd. Over 400 individual works went into the postcard show with 200 artists providing postcard sized works. Streets: World Roundup (May 6 – May 12)

After revealing a new piece last month with strong placement from Invader in Paris, our Streets World Roundup feature returns with another piece playing with some nostalgic characters from childhood for most of us. Previews: “Wider than a postcard” @ Breeze Block Gallery

On the back of his Space//Form group exhibition last year (covered), Arrested Motion’s Sven Davis is working with Breeze Block Gallery in Portland again on another huge group event entitled Wider than a postcard. With over 200 artists and 400 individual works, this exhibition looks to be both bigger than the previous event and also smaller at the same time as all of the artworks are postcard sized at 6×4 inches. Each artist is either making work on a found / owned postcard and adapting / adding […]

Basel Week Miami ’12: Hush

While in town for Basel Week Miami, the UK-based Hush (interviewed) spent some time working on some murals with his signature East meets West urban imagery. The main wall was adjacent to the pool at Boulon South Beach, luxury condominiums in the Collins Park Neighborhood. Hush also had some paintings showing at the Corey Helford Gallery booth at PULSE. Openings: HUSH – “Sirens” @ Metro Gallery

Last night, Melbourne artlovers were treated to a new solo show from Hush (interviewed) at the Metro Gallery. Entitled Sirens, the new body of work consisted of  13 large pieces and 24 smaller more experimental works as well as a wall murals and some hand finished touches. The new pieces have been in the making for over six months, time well spent building up layers and mixtures of chaotic throws, urban elements, textures, and the female form. Teaser: Hush – “Sirens” @ Metro Gallery

As we mentioned in a post in March highlighting a mural from Hush (interviewed) in Melbourne, the UK-based artist has been prepping for a solo at the Metro Gallery. With the opening reception set for May 30th, Sirens will bring fans down under his special blend of East meets West imagery fused with elements of urban culture.
