Tomorrow night in San Francisco, UK-based Hush (interviewed) will be bringing his blend of imagery from the Far East and urban sensibility to 941 Geary. From the preview photos we have seen, attendees will be enjoying small to large mixed-media works featuring his special technique that includes painting, screen printing, spray-painting and collage. Also, it looks like he will be working on wall embellishments and murals. More preview looks after the jump…

Openings: Hush @ Onethirty3

Last week, the Onethirty3 installation space in Newcastle hosted its newest featured guest – Hush (interviewed). While AM is cavorting artists, fellow bloggers, and industry friends at Art Basel Miami Week, the rest of the art world is not coming to a complete standstill. Check out more installations pics after the jump…

Openings: Blek le Rat – “60/30” @ 941 Geary

Blek le Rat opened up his latest exhibition, 60/30 Saturday at 941 Geary. The title of the exhibition represents his 60th birthday and 30 years of being an artist and celebrates a career that has heavily influenced the street art being put up today. The show consists mainly of large canvases featuring worked backgrounds and his signature stencil work, with a few collaborations with artists such as Hush and APEX in the mix. Copies of his new book that recounts his prolific 30 year career […]

Openings: Hush – “Twin” @ New Image Art

After first working on a wall in Melrose (covered) several days ago, it finally came time to reveal Hush’s (interviewed) newest collection of works at New Image Art in West Hollywood. Like his street mural at De La Barracuda, the UK-based artist’s exhibition Twin (previewed), which opened last night, plays with the concepts of duality and symmetry while featuring his intricately textured and multi-facted works combining his Far East influences as well as what looks to be a homage to Gustav Klimpt. The gallery walls […]

Videos / Streets: Hush – “Twin” (Los Angeles)

Finding time before his opening in Los Angeles tomorrow night, Hush’s (interviewed) hit up a wall with his multi-textured technique.  The mural at De La Barracuda is consistent with his new body of work that plays with the idea of duality through a series of Twin paintings.  On a busy Saturday night of art, make sure you make time to head over to New Image Art between 7-10pm.

Preview: Hush – “TWIN” @ New Image Art

It looks like Newcastle-based Hush’s (interviewed) will be returning (see 2009) to Los Angeles for another solo show on May 21st, this time at New Image Art. Judging from the photos, his work is becoming increasingly more intricate and textured; something that was evident in his NY show last year (covered). Also, he seems to be moving away from the influences of the Kawaii aspect of Japanese manga and towards a more somber and serious tone. More preview photos from his studio as well as […]
