The Center for Maine Contemporary Art recently opened their juried Biennial exhibition where the participating 41 artists were chosen from 654 entries. One of these distinguished artists was none other than painter and sculptor Justin Richel. We particularly enjoy his pieces that deal with the precarious balance of stacks and clusters of sweets, furniture, birds and whatever items he sees fit to throw into the mix. The brand spanking new Hurley )( Space Gallery opens its doors this weekend in Costa Mesa, Ca. Long time supporters of the arts, Hurley have appointed Annie Adjchavanich, past director of Billy Shire Fine Arts, as the gallery’s curator. This past weekend, Faile and Bast opened the New York version of their famed “Deluxx Fluxx Arcade” show. On Saturday night, AM attended the opening of “Rooms” at Scion Space (previewed). The show, curated by Roger Gastman, certainly brought us back to the old school days of youth. A wide array of nostalgic goodness such as Laser Tag, VHS lined living rooms, Michael Jordan & Dream Team posters, elementary school desks, bus stops, gothic throwbacks and even an outdoor street/play area were included. Trustocorp’s debut show, “An Overt Display of Mischief and Mayhem” (previewed) opened on Thursday night at the Brooklyn Brothers Gallery to an enthusiastic crowd.
