Each piece of […]

Update: Space//Form Group Exhibition @ Breeze Block Gallery

One of the most interesting things about curating a group exhibition of over 100 artists is getting to see behind the scenes as the artists develop their work for the show (Chloe Early seen above). Updates come constantly as the participants share their excitement about creating work for the show, and getting to see  some of the creative process that goes into the work is always a pleasure. Space//Form opens in just a couple of weeks time now in Portland at Breeze Block Gallery and here […]

Showing: Dalek @ Womb Gallery

James Marshall (Dalek) recently opened a show at the Womb Gallery in Oklahoma City featuring some minimalistic geometric paintings that bring to mind the nurturing motherly environs referenced by the name of the gallery. The pieces bring to mind a the hues used in similar piece for the recent MTV RE:DEFINE benefit auction (covered). More photos after the jump…

Previews: Frank Stella – “Geometric Variations” @ Paul Kasmin Gallery

On Thursday, September 22nd, Paul Kasmin Gallery will be opening an exhibition of seminal works from influential American painter Frank Stella. Famously stating a painting is “a flat surface with paint on it – nothing more”, and with his geometrically composed, yet controversially titled 1959 painting Die Fahne Hoch! as an early example, he has long been considered a founding figure in the evolution of minimalism and post-painterly abstraction. To a large degree, today’s more contemporary op-art movement, as well as some of the artists […]
