Streets: RVA Street Art Festival (Part II)

Last week, Jeff Soto (interviewed) sent over some in-progress photos from the RVA Street Art Festival in Richmond, Virginia where artists like Dalek, Mark Jenkins, Pose, Richard Colman, and others were painting murals along the James River Power Plant Building and Floodwall. Jeff has now followed up those pics with some of of the completed walls including areas where artist’s work leaked into each other’s field leading to some sweet collaborative work. Videos: Jeff Soto x Chevy Sonic

Just a couple days ago, we shared with you photos that Jeff Soto (interviewed) sent us from his trip to Richmond, Virginia for the RVA Street Art Festival. Earlier this year though, Jeff had traveled up to San Francisco for a project with Chevy that had been kept under wraps until now. Take a look at the mini-documentary above as the Riverside-based artist “collaborates” with a robotic art car on a mural as well as discusses some of his thoughts behind the project. Streets: RVA Street Art Festival (Part I)

Releases: Jeff Soto – “Seeker Friends #1: Roller Skater”

Jeff Soto (interviewed) has something new for his fans out there. Roller Skater is the first in a series of Seeker Friends prints and will be available next Thursday, April 5th at noon PST. the 6″x 6″ edition from Prints On Wood will be available for 24 hours and cost $25 + shipping with $1 of every sale going to plant one tree through the Plant A Billion Trees program. Openings: “Love & Hate” @ StolenSpace

Last month, the StolenSpace Gallery in London hosted a show that opened around Valentine’s Day appropriate to the theme entitled Love & Hate. For the group exhibition, most artists created two works, one for each of the strong emotions that often seems linked hand in hand depending on the situation. Streets: Jeff Soto (Paris)

While in France for a couple shows he was involved with, Jeff Soto (interviewed) also found time to work on a couple public murals (here & here). In addition to those street pieces, the Riverside native also decided on doing something more adventurous. Venturing into an emergency air duct above the tracks on the Paris Metro, he drew with chalk on the textured and grimy walls some imagery from a dream he had the night before. Basel Week Miami ’11: Underbelly Show

Remember that secretive and unprecedented undertaking in New York last year entitled the Underbelly Project. Toiling four stories underground in an abandoned subway station in New York, over 100 artists invited by PAC and Workhouse left their mark on the space with murals and graffiti.
