Tomorrow night (May 7th), the Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery in New York will be presenting a a collaborative showing between JR and José Parlá. Openings: JR – “The Wrinkles of the City” @ Galerie Henrik Springmann (Berlin)

As you have seen from our coverage of murals going up all over Berlin, JR (interviewed) was in town for a show. The Wrinkles of the City opened several weeks ago at Galerie Henrik Springmann with photographs, wheatpasted found objects, as well as a rare video installation from the French photograffeur. Streets: José Parlá x JR @ Bryce Wolkowitz

In preparation for their joint show opening on May 7th at the Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery, JR and José Parlá worked on a mural together in Chelsea over the weekend. Just this Saturday, AM joined JR (interviewed) and his crew at the renowned Tribeca Film Festival for the world premiere of Inside Out: The People’s Art Project in NYC. After the French “photograffeur” won the prestigious TED Prize and pledged his awarded funds to “turn the world INSIDE OUT”, he did just that in the two years since receiving the coveted accolade. Streets: JR (Berlin) Part II

JR, who we interviewed several days ago, has been working hard this past week (see Part I), pasting new work all over the city of Berlin for his Wrinkles of the City project and show at Gallerie Henrik Springmann. Just over a week since the French street artist arrived, he leaves the city having produced 18 different pieces in just seven days. As usual, much of the placement is sublime. On May 7th, the Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery will be opening up The Wrinkles of the City, Havana, Cuba, a collaborative showing between JR and José Parlá. Featuring twelve large portraits and a site specific installation, the exhibition will showcase works that were put up by the two friends during their time in Cuba (covered) for JR’s continuing project of photographing senior citizens and pasting their portraits on the walls of city buildings.
