Recap: 2019 Complexcon (Long Beach)

Last weekend, the fourth edition of ComplexCon (also see 2016 & 2017 & 2018) Long Beach once again bought together “pop culture, music, art, food, style, sports, innovation, activism, and education” for a unique event. Of course we were there focusing on the art, overseen by Takashi Murakami who once again helped design the brand identity as well as took the opportunity to bring along some of his Kaikai Kiki roster. Take a look at their contributions to this year’s festival as well as photos from other artist’s and their offerings. […]

Previews: Mark Drew // Spoke Art @ ComplexCon ’18

Starting tomorrow, ComplexCon in Long Beach will have much in store for art fans amongst the music, fashion, and sneakers on display. One of the artists to be featured in Spoke Art’s booth will be Mark Drew, who will be presenting some of the Peanuts comics and 90s rap lyric mashups that he has become known for. Combining pop culture and hip hop, the Tokyo-based artist’s work certainly seems tailor-made of the event. Take a look at more preview images below… Discuss Mark Drew here.

Recap: Takashi Murakami @ ComplexCon 2017

After a first look at this year’s ComplexCon a couple days ago, we now will show you how the imagery of Takashi Murakami branded the event. Along with adding his work to all the adverts, media, and setup of the event, the Japanese artist also had a booth of his own displaying his artwork as well as had a massive amount of merchandise for sale in the gift shop. Top on the list for his fans were exclusive new sculptural editions, two “octopus DOBS”, a Modernica rocker chair, prints, […]

Recap: ComplexCon 2017

Over the weekend, AM stopped by the second annual ComplexCon at the Long Beach Convention Center, drawn in mainly by the infusion of Takashi Murakami’s design, art, and merchandise at the event. We’ll delve in deeper to see what Murakami (seen above) meant to the two-day celebration of art, streetwear, and hiphop in a later post but for now enjoy a first look at some of what you would have seen if had been one of the more than 50,000 that attended (a lot of […]

ComplexCon ’16: Dabs Myla

After a first look at the inaugural ComplexCon, held at the Long Beach Convention Center, we now will focus in on a few things that caught our eye. Featuring sculptural as well as painted elements featuring their signature retro cartoonish characters, the area from the two featured a steady stream of people wandering […]
