Frieze 2010: Mark Ryden

We cherish every opportunity to see Mark Ryden’s work, and when we heard that his new painting entitled “Awakening The Moon” was to be shown at Paul Kasmin’s booth at the Frieze Art Fair, we had to put this on our tick-list. Kasmin brought us a treat at Basel in Miami last year with the wonderful “Incarnation” and this new piece didn’t disappoint either. Check the wonderful details in some of our close up flicks after the jump.

A couple weekends ago, The Hole in conjunction with non-profit organization Redu called upon a diverse collection of artists to help shine a much needed light on the increasingly strained American school systems by donating their talents to raise money for educational reform. Aptly dubbed RE:FORM School, the show brought together an eclectic array of contemporary and street artists, including Shepard Fairey, Faile, WK Interact, Mel Kadel, Ron English, Greg Lamarche, Gary Baseman, Chris Johanson, SWOON, Friends With You, Jim Houser, TrustoCorp, Ryan Bubnis and […]

For those of you who missed it, we have a photo summary of this year’s Beyond Eden Art Fair. Over three thousand people attended the second annual fair that is the only one of it’s kind highlighting the so-called New Contemporary art movement, and hopefully next year, it will continue to grow and […]

One of our favorite artists, Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed), will be opening up a new solo show at the end of this month in Italy. The San Marino-based artist will be bringing a new body of work to nearby Rome to the Dorothy Circus Gallery and from the look of things, her imagery seems to be taking a darker turn. We are sure you’ll be interested in seeing a full preview, but for now, enjoy a look at this piece in the show – “Incanto”. Discuss […]
