Releases: Audrey Kawasaki – “Yuuwaku” & “Hyakki Yakou” Time-Limited Prints

So, it turns out the poll that Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) ran to choose her next print was a tie between “Yuuwaku” & “Hyakki Yakou,” so she decided to make both available (you have to choose one) to her fans. Both will be on sale on January 23rd, Saturday, between 3pm to 4pm Pacific Time for a hour window. We had only recently started our new sketchbook feature which takes our readers back to what is often times the very beginning of an artist’s creative process. Conveniently for us, Stella Im Hultberg (interviewed) posted up some images of her sketches on her blog for all to enjoy. Brian Viveros and Dan Quintana are set to open a dual show tonight entitled “Desensitized” with collaborative (like the painting above) and individual works. In what seems to be a perfect match in styles, both artists will be bringing their cigarette-smoking, gun-slinging, bad-ass women to Copro Gallery for all to worship and enjoy. Preview: Krista Huot – “Nepenthe” @ Gallery 1988 (SF)

This Saturday night, January 9th, Krista Huot (interviewed) returns to Gallery 1988 in San Francisco with a new body of work. The solo show, entitled “Nepenthe” or translated as “drug of forgetfulness” mentioned in ancient Greek mythology appears to be loosely based on various fairytales such as Snow White, Alice In Wonderland, Rapunzel, Cinderella among others. Krista is also planning on painting the walls of the gallery to look like a storybook forest so we are looking forward to seeing how it all turns out. […]

Fashion and art often intersect (Louis Vuitton x Murakami, Sprouse, and Hirst, Shu Uemura x Ai Yamaguchi, just to name a few) , so it comes as no surprise that we see Tarina Tarantino ask Adam Wallacavage to help her with the launch party of her new Sephora “Beauty Collection” set to be released in March. Looks like custom pink versions of Wallacavage signature octopus chandeliers were out in full force during the event. Take a look at more pics after the jump…
