Jeff Soto (interviewed) has just teamed up with 1xRUN for a print release entitled Owl Of Infinite Knowledge. This newest offering from the Riverside-based artist featuring the nocturnal bird of prey is part of the Murals In The Market Featured Artist Print Series, corresponding with the Murals In the Market festival opening later this week. Previews: David Lyle – “Damaged Goods” @ 111 Minna

On October 2nd, David Lyle will be opening a new show at 111 Minna in San Francisco featuring a series of works collectively entitled Damaged Goods. The New York-based artist takes inspiration from found vintage photos which he recreates with a twist, seeding each image with unexpected modern day references. He further states – “These paintings are American moments for our psyches to reflect upon and yet they are personal satirical commentaries of events going on in  and around my life.” Discuss David Lye here.

Openings: Aaron Horkey & Esao Andrews & João Ruas – “The Gilded Age” @ Thinkspace Gallery

Over the weekend, Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles opened the doors to The Gilded Age featuring new works by Aaron Horkey, Esao Andrews, and João Ruas. Co-curated by Andrew Hosner of Thinkspace and Horkey himself, the duo set out to put together a “dream-team” exhibition, giving it a title that harkened back to the late 19th century and the industrial revolution.  Horkey ended up handpicking Andrews and Ruas to accompany him and the results are truly outstanding. Upcoming: Casey Weldon – “Hastemaker” @ Roq La Rue

Starting on October 1st, new works collectively entitled Hastemaker will be on display at Roq La Rue from Casey Weldon (featured). For his return to the Seattle showspace (see 2014), the locally-based illustrator and fine artist will be presenting more dreamlike paintings utilizing a hyperchromatic palette, of which the piece above Pixel Perish is a good example. The predominant imagery from this new body of work features human figures and tigers, placed in environments that are actively hostile to their existence. Releases: Kozyndan – “Captives: Orcas and Pandas” Print

Later today, Kozyndan will be releasing a new print from their webstore entitled Captives: Orcas and Pandas. The new image is the third in their Animal OddCouples series of works where they pair two animals that struggle due to human activity around the world. They may be different species, but their struggle for survival is that same against mankind’s aggression and carelessness.
