Mark Ryden is set to open his new show “The Gay 90’s” in Chelsea’s Paul Kasmin Gallery at the end of April. Back for his first solo since his “Snow Yak” show in Tokyo’s Tomio Koyama, Mark looks to take NYC by storm. Mark your calendars as it opens April 29th. Basel Week Miami ’09: Mark Ryden

One of the highlights of our trip to Miami was definitely seeing this new Mark Ryden piece revealed at the Paul Kasmin Gallery booth at Art Basel. The breathtaking 72″ x 48″ piece “Incarnation” seems to be a happy medium between his new minimalistic style seen at his last solo at Tomio Koyama in Japan and his older imagery.  Sold for almost 900K, it appears the market for one of the top artists in the so-called “low brow” movement is still strong. In what looks to be a magical wedding deep in the forest, Mark Ryden and Marion Peck tied the knot amongst friend and family. With a beautiful setting and costumes that just seem appropriate, the artists made it official. We wish them all the happiness in the world and many years painting together…

Preview: “+2” Group Show @ Sloan Fine Art

We love the concept behind this group show opening this Saturday, June 20th, at Sloan Fine Art in NY. “+2” sees 24 artists previously exhibited by Alix Sloan invited to participate in the group show, along with 2 other artists of their choice – hence the plus 2 title. Benefit: Camille Rose Garcia “Lil Elorphant” Print

In case you missed their first print with Mark Ryden, Roq La Rue just announced a second charitable print they did with Camille Rose Garcia. Again this is to raise money for David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust so every penny of this amazing print is going towards this great charity which helps endangered elephants and rhinos in Africa.
