Basel Week Miami ’11: Mark Ryden Preview

Another reason to hit up the major art fairs is the opportunities to see the new gems from Mark Ryden in person. For this year’s Miami rendition of Art Basel, the lowbrow painter will be bringing at least two originals with him to the party – Main Street USA (seen above) for the Michael Kohn booth (Booth K10) and Pinxit Jajo (seen after the jump) for the Paul Kasmin booth (Booth B14).

Releases: Mark Ryden – The Official “ROSE” Pendant

This Wednesday, August 17th, Mark Ryden is releasing his The Official “ROSE” Pendant through Porterhouse. The enameled metal pendant, which the features his Rose painting from his 2003 Blood Show, will certainly draw comparisons to his Rose Pin that was released in 2008. The specially boxed item will come with a COA, is an open edition, measures 1-3/8” x 1-13/16″ and will cost $99. More images after the jump…

3D Art Book Signing @ Opera Gallery

AM recently attended a special signing party for the 3D Art Book (previewed) hosted at the Opera Gallery in New York. Releases: Mark Ryden – “Yoshi – The Forest Spirit” Poster

It looks as though there will be a new release from Mark Ryden, a reproduction of his painting Yoshi – The Forest Spirit, based on a painting seen at Art Basel Miami at the Michael Kohn Gallery booth in 2007. Priced at $250, sized at 19 x 23″, and with a run of 1000, the edition will be available presumably on January 15th from Portherhouse with the proceeds to benefit The Nature Conservancy. Basel Week Miami ’10: Michael Kohn Gallery

One of the notable booths from this year’s Art Basel was Los Angeles’ Michael Kohn Gallery. Some of our favorite artists like Camille Rose Garcia (interviewed), Ed Ruscha and Ryan McGinness were among the varied mix of talent represented. Another treat was a separate showcase where Kohn displayed a series of new works from  Mark Ryden. Check it all out after the jump.

Releases: Mark Ryden “YHWH” Black & White Vinyl Figure Set

With the release of his regal Snow Yak Print Portfolio (covered) barely in the rear view mirror, Mark Ryden has revealed details for his next release – a set of vinyl toy figures.
