Roq La Rue changed it up for this month’s opening. The works on display are from the personal collection of the Baxter family, who are selling some of their collection to move overseas. Update: Mark Ryden

For those waiting for the postponed show (now slated for later this year) in Los Angeles from the great Mark Ryden, there have been side projects to keep your love for renowned lowbrow painter alive. These included a comprehensive book, a print release, an album cover design, and a painting for charity. Now, we get a glimpse of something else he is working on – little meat sculptures. Only time will tell if these are for the upcoming solo or for some other endeavor. Discuss Mark Ryden here.

Gifted painter Mark Ryden recently created an exquisite new piece entitled Queen Bee. For those interested, the painting will go to a benefit auction for the World Wildlife Fund coming up this May. Also, fans in Los Angeles can expect a show from the low brow luminary soon, hopefully some time this year at the Michael Kohn Gallery to be entitled The Gay 90’s: West. Discuss Mark Ryden here.

Odd Future leader Tyler, The Creator recently released images (three of them) that will be used for the cover art of his new album – Wolf. One of these versions was created by none other than Mark Ryden, who if you remember has had experience with album cover design (Michael Jackson’s Dangerous). It seems our friends at Pressure Printing have been working on a special project with Mark Ryden. Entitled Wood Lincoln, this reoccurring character by Mr. Ryden’s work comes to life in a beautiful 14-color serigraph that comes in a hand carved walnut veneered wood frame measuring 33″ x 27.5″.
