It’s been a long while since our last Streets World Roundup but we felt like sharing so here’s a look at some recent street art. Headlining things is this clever series of handpainted sequential billboard takeovers from Mobstr (interviewed). Not sure where these pieces are located, but presumably in the UK somewhere. Wherever they are, the text-based work is a prime example of his wittiness, talent for placement, and minimalistic aesthetic. Howard Griffin Gallery recently announced their upcoming off-site project in the industrial 14,000 square foot Ambika P3 exhibition space in central London. Streets: Mehdi Ghadyanloo – “Spaces of Hope” (Boston)

Mehdi Ghadyanloo was recently invited in by the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy in Boston to paint his first mural in America. The prolific Tehran-based artist worked on the large 70 x 76 foot wall in Boston’s Dewey Square Park (also painted by Os Gemeos in 2012) over the course of tree weeks creating a piece he calls Spaces of Hope, featuring some of his signature surrealist imagery. Mehdi Ghadyanloo was in recently in UK again, painting a new mural in Dulwich. This wall was an extension of his previous project with Dulwich Picture Gallery, where artists are invited to reinterpret classic master paintings from their permanent collection. On this occasion, the Iranian artist picked David the younger Teniers’ A Castle and its Proprietors oil piece from 17th century (shown bellow), and used its elements in his mural. Having painted over a hundred murals in Tehran, Iranian artist Mehdi Ghadyanloo recently made his debut London show. Entitled Perception with Howard Griffin Gallery, the exhibition featured a series of paintings, miniature sculptures and a cube installation playing with perception and depth. Providing some insight into the Iranian peoples’ desire for expression, Ghadyanloo’s artworks carry universal themes of hope, anticipation, loss and sadness. On February 26th, Howard Griffin Gallery will be opening another worthy show in London featuring the art of Mehdi Ghadyanloo. Entitled Perception, the exhibition will explore the darker side of the Iranian artist’s work, when compared to the public murals he has been known for which are sponsored by Tehran’s Beautification Bureau. Mehdi Ghadyanloo is known to international street art lovers for the murals he has been painting around Tehran. So far, he has created over 100 surrealistic murals around the city, brightening up the streets with his witty concepts that play with depth and perspective. This week’s look at public art around the world is headlined by this new piece (source) from Case (aka Andreas von Chrzanowski) in Frankfurt, Germany. Painted at the construction site for the future European Central Bank headquarters, the MaClaim crew member painted Pinnochio being manipulated by a pair of hands, making some sort of political statement.
