Openings: Mike Giant @ Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea – Milan

Following his successful show last year at France’s Magda Danysz (covered), Mike Giant returned to the EU to open his “Welcome to Frisco” show last Thursday night at Milan’s Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea.  Featuring his trademark clean lines and tattooed subjects, Giant’s showing looks to be a great introduction to the San Francisco aesthetic and culture for the Milanese people. Events: Sketch Tuesday @ 111 Minna

On the last Tuesday of September, AM visited 111 Minna Gallery for their monthly installment of Sketch Tuesdays.  Originally held a once a year at Southern Exposure under the moniker “Moniker Drawing Rally”, the event has now grown to a monthly event featuring an ever changing cast of Bay Area artists.  November’s installment of Sketch Tuesdays fell on the eve of 111 Minna‘s “Neighborhoods” show (opening/setup) and featured many of the “Neighborhoods” artists.  In attendance were such SF luminaries as Mike Giant, Matt Furie, N8 […]

Preview/Setup: Neighborhood SF @ 111 Minna

111 Minna will be presenting their latest show, “Neighborhood SF,” with the opening scheduled for tonight.  Curated by Martin Olive and Ryan Malley, “Neighborhoods” is easily looking like one of the better group shows this year.  Having SF artists interpret their respective neighborhoods is a great concept, and when you’ve got the likes of Jeremy Fish, Sylvia Ji, N8 Van Dyke, Mike Giant and David Choong Lee involved, well, let’s just say it takes the boring out of neighboring artists…. Openings: Family First @ White Walls

The first great group show of 2009 went down last weekend at White Walls SF.
