Previews: Mike Leavitt – “King Cuts” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

Returning to Jonathan LeVine Gallery after a successful showing there in 2013 (covered), Mike Leavitt (interviewed) will be presenting a new body of work come May 14th. Entitled King Cuts, the new sculptures focus on renowned directors, molded in a way that recalls some of their most famous movies. Openings: Mike Leavitt – “Empire Peaks” @ Jonathan LeVine

Last month, we stopped by the Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York to check out a new showing from Mike Leavitt (interviewed) entitled Empire Peaks. Showing alongside Riusuke Fukahori’s work, which also had a three-dimensional feel to it, the new body of work from the Seattle-based Leavitt featured a mashup of historical figures and Star Wars characters, something we gave you a glimpse of in our earlier studio visit. On November 23rd, Seattle-based artist Mike Leavitt (interviewed) will be opening his solo show, Empire Peaks, at Jonathan LeVine Gallery where he will be debuting a brand new series of statuary. Rewind: June 25 – July 1

Legendary artist David Lynch recently got together with Dom Pérignon for a collaborative project. The American filmmaker, television director, visual artist, musician, and actor designed some limited versions of the Champagne brand’s bottles along with the packaging featuring the theme of flickering lights. Hey ninjas… if you follow the NBA, you’re probably aware of the sensation known as Jeremy Lin, the Taiwanese American basketball phenom who has inspired excitement (aka Linsanity) among legions of fans around the world. Openings: Hi-Fructose Group Show – “Overdose” @ Copro Gallery

“Overdose” (previewed) opened this past Saturday at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica. Upon entering the gallery, you will notice several great pieces from “Overdose” on display in the gallery’s front room. The majority of the exhibition’s body of work is displayed in the gallery’s main room. A table was set up over in the smaller wing of the gallery for the Hi-Fructose Collected Edition 1 book signing.
