For those whose interest was piqued by photos we posted earlier this week from Damien Hirst’s retrospective at the Tate Modern, you may want to check out the video above. Currently showing at the Leeum Samsung Museum of Arts is native son Do Ho Suh’s Home Within Home. Bringing his signature sculptural works made from sheer fabric, the Korean artist explores the idea of his nomadic lifestyle lying in various major metropolitan areas of the world. With colorful and ethereal suspended structures greeting visitors when entering, the exhibition certainly makes an impression. Installation: Tomokazu Matsuyama – “Thousand Regards” @ American University Museum

For those of you in the Washington DC area, you’re in for a special treat. Tomokazu Matsuyama (interviewed) will be opening up a solo Thousand Regards this week at the Katzen Arts Center of the American University Museum. Co-sponsored by the Japan Embassy and the Japan Foundation, this impressive exhibition is part retrospective and part new imagery. Known for having a fresh style that blends Eastern & Western aesthetics, the Brooklyn-based artist of Japanese decent has been working feverishly at the nation’s capital to install the show. […]

Last month, Kehinde Wiley’s exhibition at The Jewish Museum of New York opened its doors to the public with a selection of large-scale paintings, including one in the museum’s permanent collection. The showing paired with some synergism the works from the Israel portion of the painter’s continuing The World Stage series (seen last year at Roberts & Tilton) with some of the traditional Jewish papercuts and textiles from institution’s collection. With the opening scheduled for March 29th, the Warrington Museum in UK gets ready to host International Women, a group show featuring 15 artists from 10 countries. Curated by Frankie Shea & Tina Ziegler, the lineup includes Catalina Estrada, Elizabeth Mcgrath, Faith 47, Hera, Holly Thoburn, Kukula, Mel Kadel, Miss Van, Pam Glew, Sarah Joncas, Stella Im Hultberg, Swoon, Tara Mcpherson and Xue Wang. Last week, the Brooklyn Museum unveiled a special exhibition entitled Keith Haring: 1978-1982. The amazing retrospective chronicles the specific period of time when Keith Haring left his home of Pennsylvania to attend New York’s School of Visual Arts during which he met friends and peers such as Jean Michel Basquiat and Kenny Scharf. Haring’s integration and experimentation of both studio and street works are explored through 155 works on paper, seven videos and 150 archival objects – among them sketchbooks, journals, posters and subway drawings. Last Friday, one of China’s most famous contemporary artists finished creating his last commissioned gunpowder drawing for his upcoming exhibition, Sky Ladder, at the Los Angeles MOCA. Cai Guo-Qiang’s third explosive effort (see our coverage of first and second sessions) resulted in Childhood Spaceship, a monumental piece (13′ x 108′) that featured imagery and memories that have sparked the artist’s curiously as a youth. Michael Heizer – “Levitated Mass” for LACMA (In Transit)

Levitated Mass is a project conceived by artist Michael Heizer in 1968, that has waited until now after he has spent decades looking for an appropriate sized boulder.
