Castor Gallery in New York is currently running the last week of a solo show by Gregory Thielker. Between Here and Now features eight original hyperrealist works and a video installation showing examples of his Under the Unminding Sky or “windshield paintings” series that he’s been working on for the last decade or so. Armory Week ’16: Armory Art Fair

Earlier this month, New York City welcomed in the Armory Art Show. This annual event showcases some of the brightest names and current trends in contemporary art (@ Pier 94) with a portion dedicated to some of the classics from art history (@ Pier 92). Victori + Mo gallery in New York is currently showing Chaos and Wild Again by local artist Brian Willmont. Along with working with him on a solo exhibition, the gallery also recently successfully introduced his work with a booth at the Volta Art Fair during Armory Week in New York. On March 4th, Johnson Trading Gallery in NYC hosted a Bill Brady event – a pop up show by Tomoo Gokita. Coinciding with Armory Week, the show titled On Paper includes smaller works on paper by the renowned Japanese artist. The 12 pieces in the show are all figurative black and white pieces based on vintage portrait images, similar to the ones he presented with the gallery in Miami last December (covered). Previews: Reginald Sylvester II – “Reaching For Heaven” @ Pace Prints

Tonight, Pace Prints will be unveiling a new body of work by artist Reginald Sylvester II. Entitled Reaching for Heaven, this series calls on his talent of using oil sticks & acrylic paint to create densely packed abstractions. Through bold colors, black outlines and child-like scribbles, Sylvester builds his visual vocabulary and with it, creates compositions that invoke the perpetual stimulation of today’s digital life style. This exhibition approaches the idea of humanity in an age where identity is synonymous with the selfie.
