Streets: WK Interact – WK Riot (Paris)

Since we last caught up with WK Interact in September for the Project Brave (covered) in New York, we haven’t heard much from the street specialist. But recently, he took some time to update his outdoor pieces from a year ago in Paris with some work in a similar vein. Inspired by the NYC “Occupy” movement that has spread across the globe, the New York-based artist revisited areas such as Bastille Station to lay down some unique imagery in support – notice the riot gear such […]

Openings: JR – “Encrages” @ Galerie Perrotin

Last week, Galerie Perrotin paid host to French photographer and street artist JR in their Paris showspace when he displayed a new body of work entitled Encrages. Featuring his outdoor technique translated onto smaller found objects, the exhibition brought together many of the TED prize winner’s previous projects as we talked about in our studio visit leading up to the show. Openings: Takashi Murakami – “Homage to Yves Klein” @ Galerie Perrotin

Last night, Homage to Yves Klein opened at the Galerie Perrotin in Paris. As the title suggests, the newest solo from Takashi Murakami was a tribute to Klein, the late French artist who is considered a leading proponent of Nouveau réalisme and developer of the famous International Klein Blue (IKB). This deep blue color was used liberally by the Japanese in his flower and skull motifs for this show as well as one of the monochromatic works that was offered in this new body of […]

Streets: ROA (Paris)

It looks like the prolific anatomical street artist ROA has recently added his name to the long list of artists that have been invited by the Le Mur association in Paris to paint their billboard.  Others who have been by before include Zevs, C215, Shepard Fairey, WK Interact, Swoon, Above and Nick Walker, although it looks like the Belgium-based painter is one of the only ones to creatively utilize the surrounding space with his x-ray vision.
