Streets: Nick Walker (Paris)

After a successful showing during Art Basel Week Miami, it looks like Nick Walker (interviewed) has been working on some new imagery featuring his resurrected vandal. These new pieces in Paris feature his signature character working his magic on multiple walls including a collaborative mural with SheOne as part of the part of the ParisFreeWalls project curated by MSA. Videos: Futura 2000 – “Expansions” @ Galerie Jerome de Noirmont (Paris)

As part of our coverage of Futura’s show at Jerome de Noirmont in Paris, you may have noticed some photos of a large abstract mural that the crowd was admiring. Apparently, Guillotine was on hand to document some live-painting action as the NY graffiti legend showed off his spray control. Discuss Futura here.

First stop on AM’s tour of the Gagosians to check out Damien Hirst’s unprecedented takeover of the blue-chip chain of art galleries is Paris. As the title promises, Spot Paintings features borrowed and newly created works of art featuring the UK-based artist’s signature dotted paintings. Last night, AM was invited for a early viewing of Futura’s show at Jerome de Noirmont in Paris. Streets: Jeff Soto (Paris)

While in France for a couple shows he was involved with, Jeff Soto (interviewed) also found time to work on a couple public murals (here & here). In addition to those street pieces, the Riverside native also decided on doing something more adventurous. Venturing into an emergency air duct above the tracks on the Paris Metro, he drew with chalk on the textured and grimy walls some imagery from a dream he had the night before. Remember when renowned photographer JR (featured) recently returned to his home country of France for a solo exhibition entitled Encrages at Galerie Perrotin. You may recall that last Spring Futura was preparing to show at Galerie Jerome de Noirmont in Paris. Unfortunately, the show got moved as the artist was busy with several projects such as Carbon and Art In the Streets at the MOCA (covered).
