Releases: Liu Bolin – “Hidden in the City: the Louvre Pyramid (with JR)” Print

In May, we shared with you the amazing takeover by JR (interviewed) at the famous Louvre in Paris where he pasted over the iconic pyramid using photographs of the surrounding structures. Looking at the right angle, it appeared that the pyramid in the main courtyard “disappears” from sight. Who better to collaborate with next in an inception-like project than with China’s disappearing man – Liu Bolin? With both the French and Chinese artist painted over, the two friends (see 2012 collaboration) blended in with the already camoflauged pyramid behind them. This intriguing […]

Releases: Patrick Martinez – “Po-lice Misconduct Misprint” Prints

Patrick Martinez’s recent works includes what he calls the Po-lice Misconduct Misprint series, a riff on the Pee Chee Folders of the ’70s and ’80s. The paintings evoke a feeling of nostalgia as we think back to our early school days but when examined closely, the viewer realizes that the Los Angeles-based artist has replaced the high school-age students engaged in sports or other activities with images of police brutality and portraits of victims we have all seen in the news. Some of these works have now been made available […]
