Later this month, Ai Weiwei will be opening an ambitious project in New York where he will be creating site specific works as well as a series of 200 banners that will be placed on lampposts in all five boroughs. Spanish artist Okuda recently collaborated with Flamingo to design a pair of sunglasses featuring his distinctive aesthetic. The shaded spectacles (available here for 95.00€) feature the prolific street artist’s signature colors & patterns on the frames. Release: Nick Walker – “Manhattan Bridge” Print

Nick Walker (interviewed) will have a new print entitled Manhattan Bridge on sale on Monday, 2nd October at 2.30pm GMT. The print features the artist’s gentleman vandal character walking across the streets of NY looking at the Manhattan Bridge. The 12 colour silk print is produced in an edition of 99 on Somerset Velvet 300 gsm paper and sized at 74 cm x 95 cm. It will be available for £450 online here at the appropriate time. Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) recently announced a new open edition she has made available through Static Medium. Entitled Enchantress (image taken from a painting from her show last year in LA), the print is sized at 18″ x 18″ and comes unframed ($90) or framed ($260). After successful Asian debut with AishoNanzuka Gallery in Hong Kong earlier this year (covered), Javier Calleja recently teamed up with the Asian art institution APPortfolio to transform one of his paintings into 3D sculpture. The result is meticulously crafted figure titled Missing The Blue Sky, that will be released in a limited edition of 200 pieces worldwide. Recently, Aron Wiesenfeld released a new print entitled Bonny Doon through Static Medium. The image features a characteristically atmospheric scene from the artist featuring a girl running through the woods. Releases: James Jean – “Hunting Party II” Print

Coming up next week (August 29th), James Jean (interviewed) will be releasing a new time limited edition entitled Hunting Party II. The print depicts all the animals of the Chinese Zodiac, comes sized at 21-15/16″ tall × 29-1/2″ wide (image size: 18-3/4″ tall × 27-5/16″ wide), and cost $200. It will only be available for 24 hours starting at 8:00 AM PDT on Monday, August 28th and ending at 7:59 AM on Tuesday, August 29th here for those interested. Discuss James Jean here.

Releases: Josh Keyes – “Spray” Print

Tomorrow (August 9th) at 10AM Pacific Time, Josh Keyes (interviewed) will be releasing a new print through Thinkspace Gallery entitled Spray. The image is taken from the Portland-based artist’s current show at the Culver City gallery and will be reproduced in an edition of 75. The print will be sized at 16″ x 20″ (14 x 18 inch full sized reproduction image area), come hand signed and numbered by Keyes, and will cost $250. Over the weekend, Daniel Arsham teamed up with Adidas Originals to release a new shoe featuring his distinct aesthetic. The American artist’s version of their New York silhouette features an all white color, frayed edges, and the text “THE PAST IS PRESENT” along the side, which is only visible when placed underneath an ultraviolet light. For those familiar with Arsham’s work, these design cues fit in perfectly with his signature “future relic” vibe.
