On December 2nd, The Skateroom is launching their new collaboration with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Along with a special event (RSVP required) and pop-op installation that night at the Delano Hotel in South Beach as part of Basel Week Miami, the series of new skatedecks featuring Warhol’s iconic imagery will be made available online. Through the sales, the company hopes to support NGO Skateistan and their amazing work with children across Afghanistan, Cambodia and South Africa. Discuss Basel Week Miami here. Currently on offer from Tiny Showcase is a new print from Josh Keyes (interviewed) entitled The Cleaner. The 8 x 10″ time limited edition will be available through November 31st, 12 pm Eastern Time. Purchasing it for your collection will cost you $40 and Keyes will donate $10 of each sale to No Kid Hungry which works to “end childhood hunger in America by connecting kids in need with nutritious food and teaching families how to cook healthy, affordable meals.” Discuss Josh Keyes here.
On December 3rd, starting at 5 pm (Eastern Time), Jeremy Geddes (interviewed) will be offering up a timed release print for only 24 hours. Entitled Foundation, the image features one of the Australian painter’s iconic floating astronauts rendered beautifully and reaching for some branches and a skull. On November 30th (8am PST), Porterhouse will be releasing a new lithographic poster from Mark Ryden entitled Aurora. The stunning image is taken from a 9 feet tall painting that the Los Angeles-based artist has prepared for his upcoming show in New York and is his biggest piece to date. Produced in a run of 500 and sized at 39″ x 21.25″, the edition will cost $500 and be available here at the appropriate time. Discuss Mark Ryden here.
Fans of Masakatsu Sashie may be interested to know that Dynamo Editions has just released a print featuring his signature imagery earlier today. Entitled Blind, the image chosen features one of the Japanese artist’s floating globes of man-made objects and structures. British artist SHOK-1 recently released a series of X-Fly prints with Fruit, Bluebottle, and Fire variations. Mimicking his characteristic freehand x-ray spray technique from the streets, each of them are sized at 66 x 44 cm, limited to an edition of 50, and cost £140.00 with a discount if you buy all three as a set. The British artist further explains – “Like graffiti, flies are often perceived in a negative way but they can be very beautiful.” Discuss SHOK-1 here.
Starting November 17th at 8:00 AM PST, James Jean (interviewed) will be offering a new print entitled Adrift on his webstore for 24 hours only. Continuing his longstanding collaboration with Porterhouse, Mark Ryden recently released the Lover’s Eye Brooch through their webstore. A similar item was given away at the Surrealist Ball during Baby Tattooville, with that prize being an original and this brooch being what looks to be an open edition.
