Recently, Nigo announced that KAWS will be designing Uniqlo’s UT line for spring. The new collection, scheduled to be on sale April 22nd, will consist of 12 T-shirts with the Brooklyn-based artist’s imagery. By the first look, they are everything KAWS fans would hope for. The Companions, X’s, gloves, eyes and Chums, all rendered with the American artist’s recognizable line work, have found their way on to the backs and fronts of the tees. Releases: James Jean – “Pomegranate” Print

James Jean (interviewed) recently released woodblock print that he created at the Adachi Institute in Tokyo. The limited edition (run of 50) features a young woman using the red color dripping from a pomegranate as makeup, a beautiful example of the Japan-based artist’s artistic vision and craftsmanship. Releases: Saber – “Refulgent” Color Studies On Paper

Inspired by some recent paintings (example above) he has been working on called the “Refulgent” series, SABER (interviewed) has recently released some color studies on paper (seen below) for purchase on his website. These pieces on textured water color paper were created using spraypaint, acrylic, charcoal pencil, and oil stick and help loosen the Los Angeles-based graffiti artist up before he tackles the larger paintings like the one seen above. There’s a hole in the ground and it’s playing your song is the name of a new etching that Candice Tripp (interviewed) recently released. The limited edition (run of 25) has been in the works for quite a while but after several months, two plates, three test proofs and a lot of cramping, it is ready for purchase. Supreme recently announced their latest artist collaboration project with none other than famed sculptor Urs Fischer. The Swiss-born artist has elected to use the image of a cigarette, in various states of use, for the latest installment of the streetwear brand’s longstanding artist deck series. This isn’t the first time Fischer has chosen this subject for his art and speaks to his focus on everyday objects and the effects of time. Releases: Audrey Kawasaki – “Dreaming of Koholint Island” Print

On March 26, Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) will be releasing a new print entitled Dreaming of Koholint Island. The image is taken from the painting the locally-based artist contributed to the current 30th anniversary Legend of Zelda group show (covered) in Los Angeles. Starting at 12 noon PST, 250 of these prints will go on sale for $140 unframed and $290 framed, but head over here for more details if you are interested in adding one to your collection. Releases: James Jean – “Kali” Print

On March 23rd, James Jean (interviewed) will be releasing a new time-limited print (starting 8:00 AM PDT and available for 12 hours only) through his webstore entitled Kali. The image is taken from one of his paintings for his show in Tokyo last year (covered) and features the Japan-based artist’s surreal take on the Hindu goddess of empowerment. The giclee will include a silkscreened pink dot pattern which were hand painted in the original. More details here. Discuss James Jean here.

Earlier this year, Tracey Emin collaborated with her long time friend and jewellery designer Stephen Webster on a new line of wearable art. The 50-piece collection entitled I Promise To Love You is inspired by the British artist’s signature neon art and her sketches of woodland animals of which she states – “I chose the woodland creatures as I wanted to work with the idea of English animals. Pace Prints just announced their newest print release with KAWS. Man’s Best Friend is a monumental set of 10 black and white screenprints, similar to the installation shown at his 2014 show at Honor Fraser Gallery (covered). Based on Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts, the prints are KAWS’ take on the popular cartoon. By combining macro views of lines that comprise of the forms of Snoopy, Woodstock and friends, along with his signature XX, the Brooklyn-based artist created appealing abstract images.
