Openings: “The Rejects” @ Reed Projects Gallery

Last weekend in Norway, the inaugural show at Reed Projects Gallery, The Rejects, opened featuring work from Vhils, Roa, Escif, Dolk, Evol, Dan Witz and Brad Downey. The new showspace is the brainchild of the same people behind the annual Nuart Festival in Stavenger and presumably will now become the indoor gallery of those artists involved. Take a look at more photos from the opening below… Photo credit: Erik Sæter Jørgensen.

Streets: ROA (Vienna)

After a showing last August at INOPERAbLE in Vienna, ROA has been invited back by the gallery to paint a massive 23 m wall in the city center. The Belgium anatomical street specialist decided to render a beautiful collage of local birdlife on a wall in the 9th district that dwarfed the mural he painted at the showspace last time. Discuss ROA here.

Streets: ROA (London)

Last weekend, ROA painted a huge hedgehog that you can see peeking around the corner on Chance Street in Shoreditch. This public art gift to London was in association with the Belgium-based street artist’s dual showing at StolenSpace (covered) and their popup location (covered) collectively entitled Hypnagogia. More photos after the jump via Street Art London.

Openings: ROA – “Hypnagogia” @ StolenSpace (Part II)

After bringing to you part one of our coverage of ROA’s showing with StolenSpace, we move from the main space to The Stone Masons at 17 Osborne Street London E1 6TD. This portion of Hypnagogia seemed to be more installation-based, filled with a bestiary of animals from the Belgium-based artist, cleverly dissected on found objects. As the title suggests, these visions of animalia could usually only be seen in the transitional state between wakefulness and sleep, but luckily for his fans, ROA has made it […]

We’ll first focus on the work from the main showspace which included his signature anatomical animal paintings on found objects, installations, and a mural. Coinciding with the art on display was the launch of ROA’s first artist book Roa: An Introduction To Animal Representation by Mammal Press. More photos after the […]
