If you attended any of the previous Supersonic Invitational shows, you know you’re in for a treat. We were unable to attend the reception last Saturday night at Spoke Art, but we met up with the curator/art blogger, Zach Tutor, earlier in the day for a look at all the artwork. Curator Zach Tutor from the highly addictive and widely read Supersonic Electronic blog has assembled another great line-up of new-contemporary artists for his Third Annual Supersonic Invitational. Preview: Seamus Conley & Peter Ferguson – “I Think We’re Alone Now” & “Black Jubilee” @ Roq La Rue

On Friday night (March 8th), Roq La Rue will be hosting the opening for exhibitions from Seamus Conley and Peter Ferguson. I Think We’re Alone Now consists paintings from the San Francisco-based Conley featuring of figures set against hazy and surreal backdrops that have a dream-like or sci-fi fell to them. In contrast, Ferguson is a painter from Montreal who combines the fantastical with scenes of explorers and adventurers, all rendered with the feel of early 20th century small town Americana. Last Thursday evening, Spoke Art Gallery in San Francisco hosted the opening of the 2nd Annual Supersonic Electric Invitational to a packed house with many of the 32 artists in attendance. The show is curated by Zach Tutor, who founded and runs the Tumblr-based contemporary art blog Supersonic Electronic, by choosing some of his favorite artists who he felt are innovative, dynamic and compelling. Tomorrow night at Roq La Rue, the fourth rendition of their Lush Life group show will open with a diverse mix of artists including Camille Rose Garcia, Chris Berens (above), Madeline Von Foerster, Travis Louie, Glenn Barr, Ti Kunkit, Seamus Conley, Annie Owens, Sam Wolfe Connolley, Laurie Lee Brom, Lindsey Carr, Jessica Joslin, Michael Alm, Handiedan, Peter Ferguson, Zoe Williams, and Eric Fortune (seen directly below).
