Streets: CityLeaks Summary – Faith47, DAL, ROA, Herakut, INTI

We’ve already shown you the walls that Blu and Ethos painted for the CityLeaks Festival in Germany, but it looks like it’s time for a summary of some of the rest of the participants. As we have become accustomed to, street artists Faith47 and DAL worked on murals with religious overtones and frenetic energy respectively. Belgium-based ROA brought his new skinned animal concepts from indoors to outdoors. Herakut painted one of their signature collaborative pieces for their home country with some of their pensive lettering. […]

Streets: Risk & Retna – Heal The Bay Charity Project (Santa Monica)

This morning, AM was invited for the unveil of a new collaborative piece between graffiti artists Risk and Retna (featured). In conjunction with the Heal the Bay charity, an environmental group working to keep the Santa Monica bay clean and free of pollution, the two prolific artists had been working on this project during the last two months under major secrecy. The process actually began 2 months ago when Risk began layering a multitude of wooden panels with a palette of different colors meant to […]

Back in June, we brought you photos of the medusa head that Blu painted for the CityLeaks Festival in Germany. Now pictures have surfaced of the beautiful new mural that the Brazilian street surrealist Ethos gifted Cologne for his part of the event. For those interested, the festival have uploaded timelapse videos onto their vimeo channel of Herakut’s and Blu’s work so far. Check out a couple more detailed pics of the wall above after the jump…

The Ukranian duo continues their hot streak with this newest wall in Košice, Slovakia featuring some of their signature surreal imagery. Look for a gallery show from the two at the end of the month in Milan at the Avantgarden Gallery. More views after the jump…

Streets: Joe Sorren

It looks like gifted painter Joe Sorren’s (featured) has painted another wall in his home city (see the previous The Veridic Gardens of Effie Leroux), this time in collaboration with Lyle Motley. This wonderful new piece entitled Galápagos is located in Flagstaff at 209 Benton Avenue (La Famiglia Foto) is perhaps a warmup to his show coming up next month at Dorothy Circus in Italy.  We’ll have more on that soon, but for now, take a look at a more detailed shot of the mural after […]

Streets: “______ capitalism?” (Norway)

Artists have been hard at work the past week getting up in Norway for the ______ capitalism? event put on by the NHH Norwegian School of Economics in close collaboration with the Nuart Festival. If you remember back in July, Eine was the first to paint a piece for the project, but others like M-City, Escif, Dolk, and Hyuro have joined in the fun to challenge the leading business school’s ideological foundations directly on their walls. The unlikely pairing of the street artists with the school […]

Streets: London Instagram Roundup

After having a break from London, AM was very happy to return to a lot of fresh pieces. Phlegm has been painting the walls of The Foundry with his impressive comic book characters, Kid Acne has put up one of his excellent paste-ups which is especially nice, and it was also great to see that Mobstr had been out and about again with one of his thought provoking stencil messages. Also a great wall by artist David Shillinglaw who currently has a show at East […]

Streets: TrustoCorp (New York) Part 2

As a preamble to TrustoCorp’s recent tongue-in-cheek riffs on reality television and tabloid magazine interventions, the New York-based street art collective had also endowed the Big Apple with a series of their signature signage, as well as a collection of humorous works staged at various subway entrances. Always playful and with a strong message at the core, the installations reaffirm why their unique street art methodology is so effective. Cleverly reclaiming public space otherwise reserved for mundane directional alerts, TrustoCorp has taken it upon themselves […]

Fame Fest ‘ 11: NeSpoon

As the opening (Sept. 24th) of the Fame Festival draws nearer, the last few artists will be touching down to put their mark on the walls of Grottaglie. The most recent visitor was Polish artist NeSpoon and she stayed for 3 weeks, taking advantage of the unique history of the town and learning some new techniques from a local ceramics master. She spent her time in the streets using a variety of methods to get her message across including stencils, ceramic installs, and lace. The […]
